VANITY: I HATE Brusells Sprouts
Frozen Food or Produce Section | Yours Truly

Posted on 04/10/2010 5:57:19 PM PDT by Allegra

They're just all slimy and gross. I like most other veggies, but Brussells sprouts are disgusting.

You may be a supertaster:

Supertasters

I'd rather eat toe jam than Brussels sprouts myself. I don't even like people who like Brussels sprouts.

Now repent! You are sliming a perfectly good vegetable, okra! By the way, are you from the South????

No reason for BS to be slimy. First rule is don’t boil most vegetables ever. Roast those BS in a shallow pan w a little butter till tender, turn a few times, maybe add a little onion, and they are delicious.

>>I agree... but if you want something truly disgusting, try Brussel Sprouts and Okra.
>
>Interestingly enough, I love okra.

Genetic Engineering can fix that! Just imagine okra, with it’s texture and form, but brussell sprout taste...

>But Brussells sprouts are evil.

You’re welcome.

I’m watching Doctor Who: End of Time, and two characters have heads like brussels sprouts.

Just FYI.

You see, according to Cocteau’s plan, I’m the enemy, ‘cause I like to think; I like to read. I’m into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I’m the kind of guy who likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, “Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?” I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-o all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I’ve SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It’s a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing “I’m an Oscar Meyer Wiener”.

Looks like you blew your nose in your bowl of gumbo.

Stewed okra or okra in gumbo is just plain gross. Fried okra is a whole different issue ~ that's yummy.

When I was little we called them huge green buggers.

That's a good name for 'em. Henceforth, I shall refer to them that way.

Because I'm grown up now.

"Never liked spinach much."

Stir-fry in olive oil with shaved garlic. Mmm.

Beet greens are amazing cooked that way, served with a nice aioli made from a couple tablespoons mayonnaise, a few tablespoons balsamic, enough olive oil to make it runny, and a pinch of cayenne, and of course the fresh ground pepper. Mmm.

Ever had fried okra? Slice it in 1/2” sections, put a cup of corn meal and about three table spoons of flour in a bowl, coat the okra nicely with that mixture and fry in hot bacon grease with plenty of salt and pepper. I’ve never tried to mix it with brussels sprouts. I like the Indian way of making okra, too - whole okra pods, onions, curry, and diced tomatoes. MMMMMMM

Give them to our dogs . . . they like them.

I'll mail 'em some chow hall ones. I'll bet those are tasty. (Not that I would know.)

They are nasty. Asparagus on the other hand is my favorite. Even with the funny smelling urine later...
