Anchorage Joe's Fifteen Minutes are up
The Republican Mandate ^ | November 13, 2010 | Tim Howes

As an election law attorney with fourteen years experience, I can tell you that the Miller camp is using the "spaghetti justice" approach to election law. They are throwing the whole pot of pasta up on the wall to see what sticks. We have a job to do in Washington, one that Joe Miller passionately supports. It is my sincere hope that the person in the Miller camp who understands third grade math prevails soon because the Alaska ballot count is a distraction from the task at hand: Balancing the federal budget and ending the Obama deficits.

I am retired military, so OF COURSE, I would never advocate that.

“but stop using lawyers to challenge murkowski write ins where people forgot to dot an “i” ( I saw this on the news)”

But clearly there are other votes among the 8 or 9,000 that are being challenged that should be counted, according to clear AK election law, right?

Democrats voted for Murky just to be sure that Miller would lose. They knew their candidate was toast, so Murky’s independent run was just what they needed.

BINGO!

I was under the impression (from news reports) that the margin for LM was much bigger—insurmoutable actually. Of course, I don’t live in Alaska so I’m not following as closely as if I did

If Miller does indeed lose, then one has to wonder if Murkowski might possibly be one of the few people who could derail Palin’s presidential hopes? It all depends on what Murkowski knows and what she’s willing to do to her bitterest political foe.

See my post #58.

I voted absentee (Florida) in the 2000 election while stationed in Japan. I can still remember the jerks saying the Military votes shouldn't count. The is one case where I don't care how the voter voted, never ever disenfranchise the vote of someone who is serving overseas and went through the trouble to vote.

You know what we’re reacting to rbg - it’s your unequivocal statement in post #23 above:
“Miller should preserve his viability for the future and just bow out gracefully.”

Sounds pretty immediate - but you’re saying you meant, sometime after next Wed. 11/17 when the last of the military ballots is in and counted, right? OK. Good. Glad we clarified...;)

Thanks for your service to the nation sir!

By the way, imho, if Miller prevails with 60% or so of his most obvious challenges, he’ll be Sen. Miller. I think that’s worth the fight.

That 60% estimate, may go down, if he wins the military vote by more than 2,500 votes over murk.

We’ll see - but that won’t be for at least another week.

“And that includes Fox News.”

Come on RBG - Fox News doesn’t dictate election law anymore than cBS - we should be GLAD of that at the very least. They entitled to their opinions, as are you - but I vigorously disagree that this race is over and the Miller should ‘bow out’ gracefully. That’s a trite little statement right now that all RATS should apply to themselves and never do.

In fact murk should have applied it to herself after the primary like she said she would instead of blatantly lying to our faces.

“It appears that Miller has about a 25K lead over actual write-ins for Murkowski with some 29K write-ins left to count.”

And murk is winning 90% uncontested - which would be 26,100 more votes out of the remaining 29K write-ins. That puts her up by 1,100 uncontested votes before the military votes and before the contested votes are challenged. Miller may well be up in votes to Sen. write-in, before any court challenges.

But yeah, he should just give up...;)

Just like ole sour-face Lisa bowed out, huh? Nope, he needs to fight to the finish and wait until the military votes are counted.

These da** people have stolen too many elections, and they NEVER bow out. Just keep trekking in with bags of ballots found at the last minute until they win.

I’m sick of people waving the white flag and sticking their tail between their legs just because they are Republicans.

Murkowski violated laws and we all know it. Someone needs to file suit - not bow out gracefully, as you say.

The people of Alaska, if you’ll remember, voted for Joe in the primary.

And, I’m sick of hearing, he/she ran a bad campaign. Well, Zero ran a good campaign and look at how he turned out. Campaigns don’t equal much needed votes in the Senate. They sometimes just show that there are suckers out there who vote for a good campaign speech, and not the ramifications of the people they elect.

I would suggest doing your own research here before advocating that Miller quit the race as you did:

There’s much at stake here, isn’t there? Miller is actually pretty close to Sen. write-in, and of course currently has more votes than she does. Yet the Seattle Times announces that sen. write-in has won...LOL. I quit the Times years ago. Socialist sluffers.

Boo. Sorry to hear that. That State Senate race had implications nationally due to redistricting (correct?)

He needs to stay in till the military ballots come in. Something wrong with this system where the military ballots never get counted.

It’s hard to find data for the historical processing of UOCAVA ballots. But the following is a study of the ballots from 2008. Scroll down to p. 6 there is a chart with the number of ballots sent out by each state and p. 9 indicates percentage of counted ballots. Then scroll down to p. 40 for a table of ballots counted by state......

You saw it on the lamestream media? I’m sure they are just showing a few that are bordlerine. Have you seen any that have actually been thrown out?

I’m surprised that anyone believes anything the MSM shows. I’m even beginning to wonder about Fox. Its still the best source for us, but, there are a lot of libs on that station as well.

Solid list darkwing - thanks. Reducing vote fraud, election lawbreaking needs to be a priority of the Tea Party reform efforts.

Smaller, accountable government. Period.

I agree. Why are so many people on this forum apparently content to let Lisa steal the election?

I don’t get it.

It’s close, military ballots should count in a close election. Do they want to disenfranchise the military?

If the military ballots go to Lisa; if enough write-in ballots are clearly for her, then she will win.

But why give up? She didn’t. She filed as a write-in. She rounded up all her Inuit tribes, she did a little this, a little that.

I’m still hoping Joe pulls it out. He may not be the most charistmatic or greatest candidate but he is oceans better than Murky.
