Back in the summer, Virg Bernero got a roar from a partisan crowd of 3,500 when he was introduced as the next governor of Michigan at the Michigan Education Association’s rally June 24 at The Capitol in Lansing.
But as it turned out, Bernero may not have been the sweetheart candidate of the union members after all, according to a researcher of teachers’ unions.
The GOP’s Rick Snyder won the race for Governor when he got 58 percent of the vote. Bernero, the Democratic Mayor of Lansing, got 40 percent of the vote on Nov. 2.
Mike Antonucci, director of the Education Intelligence Agency in California, said that just 52 percent of the certified MEA members (teachers and other professionals who hold some type of credential) voted for Bernero.
Antonucci said only 39 percent of the education support members (custodial and non-teachers) voted for Bernero. That percentage was just below the general electorate.
The results may also signify the MEA membership is less partisan than the union leadership...

Not surprising at all
Looks like the people who want a union should form another one, defund those crooks and move on..
state employee unions and teacher unions saw the crap virg did to the unions in lansing and knew better.
Hannity had a Cleveland, Ohio, focus group on just before the election. Many in the focus group were Union workers. Rush mentioned seeing the show and commented on how angry they were and that it didn’t bode well for RATs. They were big-time angry that their Union leadership was confiscating their Union dues to support Union leadership-backed RAT candidates. The Union members stated that they wanted their dues used to grow more jobs not to support RAT candidates.
The Union member see the handwriting on their unemployment walls. Their leadership, like all RATs, better wise up that their members are big-time angry at them! House Elitists failed to see reality and now they’re gone.
Unfortunately not surprising at all. All it cost was lots of RINO souls sold to the unions.
I really wonder if some ever really will see the writing on the wall before it falls in on top of them.
If you are in a union and can’t get out (by law), at least demand the monies used for political purposes be refunded to you.
I was a member of CWA for a long time before I knew the law reuired that the union give me back the money they were going to give to politicians or anything outside of the collective bargaining process.

Nationwide we lost the rank and file union vote just 49/48. Oh they will be back in 2012, but the days of an automatic even 65% union rank and file vote for Democrats are gone.
This is very good news and remember no one really believed the Soviet Union would fall until just a year or two before it actually happened.
People seem to be missing the fact that Rick Snyder isn’t mildly liberal. He’s a full on liberal who supports taxpayer funded choo choos, cap and tax legislation, and even more money to schools.
Instead they think that because he’s a sucessful businessman, that makes him a conservative.
The union members know they are being duped.

Rank and file members are overwhelmingly against their union bosses throwing their dues away on Anti Ameerican causes..

No! No! No! CC, clearly, you have not gotten the memo. We in Michigan are supposed to be ecstatic over the fact that he is a Republican.
So, start making with the happy face.
Now.
The same applies to the UAW members on the west side of the state.
I know a large number of now retired UAW workers here in the Detroit area who are republicans and have been for years.........
you got THAT right. Nice tag line. LOL
didn’t calley say we are going focus on the health of workers or some silliness like that? What workers?
