The high energy gamma is not difficult to shield when talking about a building, but very difficult to shield when moving. That is part of what makes Thorium reactors a poor source for proliferation and smuggling. There is no “sneaking” backpacks of materials spewing high energy gammas.
It is a shame spallation devices are necessarily large as the “on/off” aspect is appealing. The LFTR design used since the 50’s is also good though. They turned that thing off every Friday night and back on again every Monday morning. Unheard of with conventional reactors.
Imagine all the implications and ramifications of the US being energy independent!
That is exactly correct. And it goes way beyond Thorium.
As another says above there are a multitude of ways the United States could be energy independent (including renewables); it always could have been, it readily can be, and it should be.
But that is not what "they" want. That also is way beyond "stuck on stupid." As the nation hopefully comes to this understanding, including Thorium potential, the global cabal manipulating the legitimate taxpaying citizens of the United States will gradually become exposed.
This is not isolationism, but rather loyalty to a set of principles (individual liberty, the Constitution, Christian morality) which was the raison d'etre of the nation.
Think of how many political candidates speak of this.
Thanks for the post.

Exactly right. Power and money aren't enough for some people. They must have control over others and that is why great ideas like Thorium reactors have a hard time gaining traction.
Is “activate” the correct term? Either process irradiates, but per my readings, the gamma radiation characteristic of Th use “irradiates and turns radioactive” the building, the walls, the gear inside. I am not sure if alpha radiation (or...neutrons) has that same effect on matter, or, if the ease of shielding against the heavier particles prevents that.

I’ll try to link you something short and to the point.

Ignorance and fear have always worked well for them when it comes to atomic fusion.
And now they have Fukushima to demagogue.
Doesn't matter that Fukushima was ancient technology and that today's plants are orders of magnitude safer.
Doesn't matter how safe and efficient thorium reactors are.
Radiation is the boogey-man.
Fear trumps logic, and the Left is its master.
Neutron exposure results in induced radioactivity in the structural materials of the reactor and long term degradation of components in the core.
You understand liberals well.
For those who haven’t heard the beautiful musical harmonies of mathematical Pi—here’s a great video:

Amazing!
I wonder if it came up as a subject matter during her visit when Sarah went to India.
An US / India partnership fosterd by the Palin Administration works for me....
Thanks for the ping!
“If I am not mistaken, India is moving full speed ahead with Thorium Reactor Development...”
That may be, but I don’t think these are LFTRs (Liquid Floride Thorium Reactors) of the kind being promoted by Kirk Sorensen. Check out his video presentation at the top of his webpage at
It is very impressive.
Thanks Q.
Thank you. Surprisingly pretty melody.
Please do go ahead and try to cause Liberals' heads to explode
Sorry . . . late . . . been away.
