Rick Santorum is toast.
February 29, 2012 | techno

Posted on 02/29/2012 8:21:46 PM PST by techno

10 reasons he is toast:

1)He now is showing a major gender gap in his female voting whereas 2-3 weeks ago in polls it was negligible. Santorum lost Catholic women in Michigan to Romney by about 15-20 points.

2)Newt Gingrich will rise again to cancel Santorum out making each other non-viable. Major conservative vote splitting will occur again allowing Romney to come up the middle.

3)My prediction (other than Washington)is that Santorum doesn't win another contest in this primary season.

4)Romney has all the momentum and too much of an advantage in money and organization and will have the nomination clinched by early April.

5)The JFK comment was on politics and religion was a huge UNFORCED ERROR and alienated a lot of Catholic voters that he probably lost forever

6)Romney is seen as way more electable than Santorum although some polls do not bear that out.

7)Many Republicans and some conservatives will never forgive him for the robocalls to Democrats in Michigan

8)Santorum is an embarrassment to the GOP establishment (calling Obama a snob). They will never allow him to win the nomination. He is now as despised by the GOP hierarchy as Sarah Palin is.

9)SNL will now lampoon him to kingdom come. Once you become an entertainment laughingstock it's game over.

10)And Rick Santorum is toast because he acts unpresidential on too many occasions. Voters are now seeing it. He doesn't think before he speaks. He doesn't believe that discretion is the better part of valor. He wades into areas where angels fear to tread.

Simply Rick Santorum is toast because he cannot avoid getting himself into hot water.

No, and none of them are making their religious affiliations what this election all about. The MSM certainly hopes the voters think it is.

Gotta give Rick these next states: Washington, Ohio, Tennessee, Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Alaska.

And Willard sucks up the Mormon or liberal states of Idaho, Massachusetts, and Vermont on Super Tuesday, of course.

Newt only wins his home state of Georgia with that state’s establishment backing.

AT C4P, didn’t Techno use to daily guarantee Palin’s presidency in 2012? Boy, was he 100% correct! Not.

Oops, now he’s pimping Willard the Lib? Talk about playing folks for fools.

But who goes from Sarah to Willard? I think he’s still playing.

Rick does not understand how to debate civic issues. Take birth control. The question is not whether birth control is wanted by women or not or whether it is moral. Rick fell into the left’s trap.

Lady, you hit the nail on the head! Rick is such a religious zealot that it influences every thing he says.

SNL softens up the sheep for the MSM. They are all part of the left's propaganda machine.

Woe be those that don't tow the leftist line for they shall be lampooned.

Jimmy and Barack must rank really high with you, huh?

RE :”It’s wrong to force me to be paying for your contracpetion, and right now, Rick’s the only one opposed to it. I thought Newt was supposed to be strong on pocketbook issues - apparently not.

Actually RS’s statements on camera regarding his personal opposition to any use of contraception and how he would lecture against it's use if he was POTUS make it much more difficult for him to effectively oppose these contraception mandates.
This is because any policy issue he takes regarding birth/conception issues will be characterized as him imposing his beliefs of being against any use of birth control on others which will give the other side an very effective weapon to use against it and him.

Straight forward proof of this is RS on last Sunday's NBC talk show telling Gregory he DIDN"T want to be asked about contraceptives. This is how political warfare works.

Are you saying that Newt has not commented on this issue at all?

A debate between Newt and Bork (Obunga) would be a joke, sort of like a heavyweight vs chickenweight fight, Joe Louis vs Little WeeWee Jones or something like that; there would be an obvious 100 IQ point differential. Romney may not have a hundred points over Bork but the difference would be substantial and obvious, I believe either of the two would win. Santorum is the only real shot we have at losing this thing.

Yes Santorum is toast and so is Newt Gingrich:

Rasmussen national poll:

Romney 40%

Santorum 24%

Gingrich 16%

Paul 12%

"Gingrich is divorced but you keep skipping past his re dedication to faith and conversion to Catholicism."

That's all well and good, but it will be characterized by the opposition as just a cheap ploy to increase his electability - which it may well be. In fact, it is another example of flip-flopping as he's done on a number of issues including global warming, the bailouts etc.

"Gingrich didn’t have problems getting elected in his elections,"

Which were 30 years ago...before he accumulated the baggage and negatives he has today.

"women flat will not go for Santorum,"

That is pure supposition on your part. Most women currently don't know the first thing about Santorum.

"Newt in a head to head with Obama can win a larger share of the female vote,"

Again, supposition on your part. First he has to make it past the primary and in case you haven't noticed it he's running a distant third to Romney and Santorum.

In fact, according to today's Rasmussen poll:

In a possible 2012 matchup, the president leads Mitt Romney by three points, 46% to 43%. If Rick Santorum is the Republican nominee, the president leads by four, 46% to 42%.
This poll clearly shows he has broad based support, including among women.

I'm not yet a Rasmussen subscriber so I can't see the Gingrich results but clearly they're not as good. If someone could post his numbers for today, I'd appreciate it.

By the way, the reason this is very positive for Santorum is that Romney is largely a known quantity nationally. There's a very good chance that Santorum could increase those numbers a lot based on his superior positions and likability factor.

"and really do well with women, Hispanics and men, when the stage is clear, them intellect and vision and penetrating insight, can beat Obama."

Why isn't he doing better nationally now then? Gingrich has made some huge missteps in his campaign. His admittedly "grandiose" ideas haven't resonated (and haven't seemed at all realistic in some cases).

To be absolutely clear, there are things I really like about Gingrich, and things I'm not so happy about with Santorum. There is no "perfect" (or even extremely good) candidate this cycle. I remain sad that Sarah Palin didn't run, I think this could have been a big opportunity for her.

Regardless, we must make the best of what we have, and I'm personally sure that Rick Santorum is our best shot at having a President we can be proud of for the next four very crucial years.

"Yes Santorum is toast and so is Newt Gingrich:"

LOL!

The polls have fluctuated wildly throughout this primary season and I expect they'll continue to do so.

It is absolutely inane to say anything's been decided before Super Tuesday - and I think it'll be volatile well after that.

You might also want to reflect on the fact that if Gingrich and Paul were to drop out, Santorum would be well in the lead.

So where’s the beef? I expected to see you bringing up evidence that Newt opposes the Obama mandate against the Catholic church forcing them to pay for contraceptive coverage against their will.

Yet, you say nothing about Newt at all. Why is this?

Are you saying that Newt is happy with Obama forcing the Catholic church to pay for contraception?

I said it’s a big part, yes.

The first and most crucial part is:

“are you a conservative”?

Jimmy + Obama + Mitt all fail on this.

If Mr. Santorum wins the nom, I certainly will vote for him.

However,

Having a left wing idiot in the WH is bad, having a right wing Alfred E is not too great of an improvemnt.

Yeah, he would be an "R", but I just don't see him making the bold sweeping change in direction that is sorely needed to get this nation's ass out of the death spiral.

He simply does not have the charisma, the force, the charm, the conviction, nor the ideas necessary to implement such a change.

Being carried away by the election fervor to elect "our guy" has merit, perhaps for the judges, and some chair rearranging, but honestly? I have not yet seen the wattage needed.

I'm an Iowan and I'll NEVER forget how the Iowa Republican Party STOLE the election to give it to Romney and took the wind out of Santorum's reelection sails.

The Party and it's mouthpieces (ie. YOU) are desperate to stop a liberal wanna be like Romney losing and will destroy anyone who gets in his way -- especially a conservative.

I'd vote for Rick or Newt, but I'd never vote for Romney. You may see a major difference between Romney and Obama, but I don't. Abortion, healthcare, economy, gay marriage, those two see the world through the same liberal glasses.
