Rick Santorum is toast.
February 29, 2012 | techno

10 reasons he is toast:

1)He now is showing a major gender gap in his female voting whereas 2-3 weeks ago in polls it was negligible. Santorum lost Catholic women in Michigan to Romney by about 15-20 points.

2)Newt Gingrich will rise again to cancel Santorum out making each other non-viable. Major conservative vote splitting will occur again allowing Romney to come up the middle.

3)My prediction (other than Washington)is that Santorum doesn't win another contest in this primary season.

4)Romney has all the momentum and too much of an advantage in money and organization and will have the nomination clinched by early April.

5)The JFK comment was on politics and religion was a huge UNFORCED ERROR and alienated a lot of Catholic voters that he probably lost forever

6)Romney is seen as way more electable than Santorum although some polls do not bear that out.

7)Many Republicans and some conservatives will never forgive him for the robocalls to Democrats in Michigan

8)Santorum is an embarrassment to the GOP establishment (calling Obama a snob). They will never allow him to win the nomination. He is now as despised by the GOP hierarchy as Sarah Palin is.

9)SNL will now lampoon him to kingdom come. Once you become an entertainment laughingstock it's game over.

10)And Rick Santorum is toast because he acts unpresidential on too many occasions. Voters are now seeing it. He doesn't think before he speaks. He doesn't believe that discretion is the better part of valor. He wades into areas where angels fear to tread.

Simply Rick Santorum is toast because he cannot avoid getting himself into hot water.

I included some points on your favorite subject in this vanity rant. They were consistent with the the theme. Enjoy!

Is Obama really the oil drilling President as Democrats claim?(‘How to identify a big lie easily’)

RE :”SO you concede the point at hand?

Of course not, but your Bishop example did move me a bit in your direction,.

I still think this could end up helping dems and being counterproductive. If Obama gets re-elected and Pelosi re-takes the House you can bet that repealing DOMA would be high on their list. But I dont have a crystal ball and so this may blow over by November.

One big advantage Dems have politically is that this doesnt go into effect until 2013. That makes it difficult to actually demonstrate to voters that Obama is going after the Church. If this was in effect now the Church could refuse to follow the law in protest and force Obama into a possible lose-lose decision.

“Of course not, but your Bishop example did move me a bit in your direction.”

Like I said the Church has been fighting this since day 1 when Obama shovelled it out. You’re welcome to fight alongside us.

“I still think this could end up helping dems and being counterproductive.”

How is standing up for religious freedoms counterproductive? If we don’t fight then the issue will continue to be pushed, because the Obama administration will believe it can win forever.

“If Obama gets re-elected and Pelosi re-takes the House you can bet that repealing DOMA would be high on their list.”

True - but if we lose on this issue here - then we’ve lost one of the core guarantees of the constitution. If it can happen to the first amendment, then it can happen to the second too.

“If this was in effect now the Church could refuse to follow the law in protest and force Obama into a possible lose-lose decision.”

Newsflash, that’s the battle that’s going on right now. Obama is forcing Catholic nuns to pay for contraception.

You missed it. The mandate will go into effect in 2013. He is not right now forcing nuns to do anything. Not yet.

I am very suspicious that they (Obama) decided to bring this out now. It has all the looks and smell of a trap.

He’s been so gracious as to provide them with a ‘waiting period’.

Still unconstitutional though.

It is a trap - if he can get conservatives to shun from defending the constitution, then he can destroy the Catholics and destroy their trust in the republican party all at the same time.

Divide and conquer, and it’s working absolutely perfectly. He’s taking advantage of the fact that you love contraception more than you love the constitution, and so long as he targets the enemy - the Catholic church - you’re happy to defend what you do believe is a right, access to contraception.

That is the trap.

What do you mean by 'Catholics'?

The Church - one, if not the only institution that presently rejects contraception.

RE :”He’s been so gracious as to provide them with a ‘waiting period’. Still unconstitutional though.

Delaying it was purely political on Dems part as well as starting this fight now about something that wont apply for 10 months. .

Another reason delaying these mandates helps the Dems is because it makes it difficult for oppoents to get standing in the court wihout someone actually being harmed by the regulation that hasnt gone into effect yet. Alternatively you cant refuse to comply with a regulation and force a legal case until it goes into effect. The courts made an huge exception to this rule for the personal mandate because the argument was made that a decision is needed ASAP for national (economic) interests.

Watching both sides fight each other I have concluded that Democrats # 1 goal is to win and crush the opposition, where alternatively Republicans seem content with losing each fight and getting rolled over and stepping into Dems traps while making themselves more and more unpopular with both types of voters(us and them) . After all they do it over and over.

I disagree vehemently that defending the Constitution is an unpopular position in America.

RE:”I disagree vehemently that defending the Constitution is an unpopular position in America

Really? Unless it involves opposing handing out free stuff like contraceptives.

I don't understand how you come to your conclusions. How many Americans have ANY idea what is really in the constitution? Or how a bill is passed into Law? Or where money comes from? 5%???

Now how many Americans know when they get something for free? 90% ?

There are plenty of folks out there like that - sure.

But there are more who value the constitution, and if we don’t feed them red meat then they aren’t going to see a rationale to support us.
