"Buffet" Rule - tax the 49%
http://freerepublic.com ^ | 4-17-12 | Me

Posted on 04/17/2012 2:54:12 AM PDT by Bronco_Buster_FweetHyagh

Approximately 49% of people in United States pay no income tax. Many of them receive free money when filing tax returns due to the bogus earned income tax credit and other scams built into the tax code which turn it into welfare for the bottom half of earners. Coincidentally, the bottom half of earners tend to vote Democrat more often than not.

Instead of divisive meaningless buffett rule proposals from Obama, which are clearly meant to do nothing more than divide people, how about a buffet proposal? Buffet as in people who've lineup to eat as much as they possibly can without concern of the consequences. Since the bottom 49% treat the United States treasury like and all you can steal buffet anyways, why not a proposal to stop the madness? For example, why not a minimum income tax? Why not a guarantee that you pay a certain minimum, and receive nothing unless you pay that minimum.

While you’re at it.....how about “you don’t pay taxes?...you don’t vote”.

...........................................................
It’s nothing more nor less than paying for votes with the money gained from those of us who work for a living.

It isn’t surprising they vote for the free money.

It isn’t hard to see why Obama wants the Buffet rule, he is buying votes.

Am I wrong to think that everyone should keep as much money in their pockets as possible? I am of the opinion giving more money to a crack addict means in 8 hours he will be back for more money. The Govt is like a crack addict never satisfied with the money it gets and constant desire for more. What more does America need to know?

the math is wrong... 49% of the population isn’t living tax fee.

49% of TAX FILERS receive money back or pay net $0

there are roughly 140m tax filers. which means... roughly 70m people are paying the taxes

which leaves... 310m (+ 20m illegals) - 70m tax payers == 260m not paying taxes

yes, this includes kids, coma patients, unemployed, etc. they are ALL part of the country

therefore... 260m of the 330m aren’t paying anything or...

79% of the population pays NOTHING

yea, the rich aren’t paying their fair share. they’re paying FAR MORE then their share

Absolutely not!

“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands: Taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions. To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.”

- Honorable Learned Hand, U.S. Appeals Court Judge, Helvering v. Gregory, 69 F.2d 809 (1934).

I prefer the regressive tax...it'll give incentives for people to earn more money and stop being poor. You make $10,000 or less, you get taxed 50%, $10,000-50,000 25%, 50,000-100,000 15%, and over 100,000 10%.

We already have successful regressive liquor and tobacco taxes, as well as the lottery and casinos (the bulk of people paying those taxes are the poor anyway), why not move over to income taxes?

Seriously, the purpose of taxation is revenue for the government to run basic services (military, prisons, roadbuilding).

Good Post!! I spent much of my life working with addicts even foolishly gave them money early in my career. They always came back soon for more and never got better. The govt is like a crack addict always unsatisfied with whatever portion of our dough it steals. Govt proves daily it is not worthy to have our hard earned money. This election should be a piece of cake with the argument properly framed and folks not being distracted.

It used to be that only landowners had the right to vote. I like your idea even better, with the stipulation that the taxes paid are income taxes. Gas taxes, sales taxes, etc. should not count for voting rights. If a person does not have a stake in the game, why should they decide who represents them?

The reason the liberal are focused on those making about $50k is becuase they are trying to divert attention from the 45% that pay nothing.

As Rush says: “To be have a fair tax we must tax the poor as they pay nothing.”
