Xenalyte and others (myself included) used to grab random words from articles that sounded like good metal band names.

O always liked “Stormtroopers of Death” and their album “Speak English or Die”.

Their other name MOD (Methods of Destruction had an album called USA for MOD. and the song AIDS. Look up the lyrics ;)

I tried it with the three initials of my screen name and Ophra is mad at me now.

I will have to give up my cooking channel show as well.

Actually, that was Fagan. Becker was serving time for “collecting under-age groupies” at his Cali home during that album.

Listening to Florida Room right now.

Al sharpton = rancid temple,
Louis Farakhan = forbidden warriors,
may be on to something here.

Alternative band names are funniest. Cap’n Crunch and the Cereal Killers. The Minstrel Cramps. 4 Honkies hung like Donkeys

And what about Christian death metal?

Just preface (or epilog) the generated name with Risen or Rising.

Procol Harem’s lyrics are inexplicable because they chopped two stanzas from Whiter Shade of Pale for radio.

See the comment by Ed here:

Contemporary Classics, Compare and Contrast: A Whiter Shade Of Pale (1967-2006)
http://americandigest.org/mt-archives/grace_notes/contemporary_classics_a_w.php

Video compare and contrast there is worthwhile if you like Procol Harum.

Only song that I thought was good by them from their 80s repertoire was “Paris” from the original (European release) “Breakin’ The Chains” album. The US release (titled “Breaking The Chains”) had a faux-live version titled “Paris Is Burning”.

Back in my Navy days we were going to call our band Phosphate Wastage.

There's a couple dozen FReepers who'll get that.
