ALERT: Government Freezes EBT Funds:
SHTF Plan ^ | 10/15/13 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 10/15/2013 4:40:53 PM PDT by Kartographer

What this means is that should Congress fail to increase the debt ceiling this week, come November there will literally be millions of people in the United States who will have exactly zero dollars transferred to their EBT cards.

What will happen to the nearly 50 million people who depend on these benefits to survive?

Think this past weekend and multiply it across the entirety of the United States of America.

In the State of Utah the immediate effect of the USDA’s contingency plan will be a freeze in benefits for 100,000 people. Richard Phillips, a homeless man who depends on the government’s monthly distributions, warned what would happen next:
"It’s going to cause problems… because then you’re going to come to find out that you’re going to have people starting to steal and do what they have to do to survive."

They're afraid they won't get paid back by the government. That's the connection.

As for the letter in question, has it been authenticated? Is it for real? If the zombies catch wind of this and it spreads via Twitter & Facebook, what do you suppose might happen? They could riot in anticipation of the shutdown.

"Well if dem crackahs gon take my foo away, ah guess ah jus gon hafta git it befo dey can!"

Both SNAP and TANF normally are transacted as ACH deposits to the vendor account within 24 hours or so. There isn't any waiting until the end of the month or anything so I don't know what the problem is (this month, anyway).

Just reporting what I saw.

Something tells me the Asian owners want nothing to do with the crowd that looted the Wal-Marts recently. And they are packing heat.

Reeeally wishing my house was closer to done! In my current living situation I have to hide my preps, and the bad neighborhood is only a mile away.

That explanation I understand.

But don’t the Asian customers tend to be more manageable?

I figure he is committing suicide by prepper between 50 and 100 yards before he ever gets to me

Yes, those are valid figures when an enemy soldier, in an easily identifiable uniform, raises an enemy's banner on a battlefield and marches toward you with weapon in hand. You can then shoot at that soldier, knowing that this is a necessary and legal thing to do.

However things are murkier if that person is a neighbor who just pushed the button of your doorbell. Who will follow the advice of Joe Biden and shoot a couple slugs through the door, without identifying the target and what's behind it? But a neighbor may easily stab you with a kitchen knife as soon as you open the door. Maybe it wasn't the neighbor, after all. Hardly anyone can keep track of tens of families around and know every one of their relatives. Or there may be three or five burglars who "asked" your neighbor to say his part (not that he can refuse.)

That's a big problem in civil wars. You never know who your friend is, and who is your enemy. That's why communities form (such as in Yugoslavia) where everyone on the inside is presumed to be a friend, and everyone on the outside is presumed to be an enemy. In the first days of the troubles such communities are not there yet. You are correct, of course, that if you keep a wide area of no man's land then you cannot be approached without permission. But how likely it is, say, two weeks from now, when /seemingly/ the law and order is not far away, and when shooting people left and right is not yet considered a household chore? What will be event that enables people to shoot first and never bother with questions? It will have to be a very major event. A mere increase in crime will not do - in part because the police, facing the demands to suppress the crime, will be arresting not gang members (who are hard to find) but you, should you ever dare to defend yourself. The policing has to stop entirely by that time, or else it's you who will be arrested.

There are many ploys that gangs can use to gain entry. Sending women and children first is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Who will shoot them? But, once inside, they cannot be considered harmless.

I am in a relatively good position here, living on a small land that has a fence and a gate. Everyone trying to get inside without permission will be seen as a suspect. But most people live in cities, where the only boundary between the public street (where anyone may walk) and the private residence (where you can retreat to reload) is only an inch or two of the front door. In those cases a baseball bat will work just fine. It will not work only if the current ROE prescribes not letting anyone close, with use of deadly force if the incoming threat continues.

Yes. But I don’t think it is the Asian customers they are concerned about.

I'll see your Credence, and raise you one of my own:

The Storm by 10 Pound Test

The sky's gettin' dark, The Storm's approaching, it's comin' in from the East
Comin' to wash us all away
Those who wait, those who hesitate, like a lamb will be fleeced
Those who fight could win the day
The Storm's been brewin' for quite some time only we've never stopped to hear
The roaring wind and the rumble
But now that it's come, we're all gonna get wet, so steel your hearts and grab your gear
And watch the life we've known as it crumbles.

We've had it too good, for far too long, the party's come to a crashing end The days to come are gonna be a trial, if not to break we've got to bend
While we celebrate, while we eat and drink, our enemies are closing in
Like vultures flyin' low, circlin' around the remains of what have been.

I'm tired of trying, tired of talking 'til I'm blue in the face
Preaching to a choir that's fast asleep
'Cause if you don't know by now what we have in store, you'll be blown away by The Storm
Led to the slaughter like a flock of sheep

We blindly accept whatever we're told by talking heads on the TV
You don't understand there's so much more than what they give for you to see
Every man and woman, you've got to ask yourselves, "am I ready to defend my rights?"
Or are you so afraid that you'll just submit, and give up without a fight?

I'm not that kind of man, I'm not that kind of fool
I refuse to abide, I won't live by their rules
Take off your blinders and look around, The Storm's just outside
Will you draw a line, and take a stand, or run away and hide?

(Solo...yeah, part of it sounds like I mugged David Gilmour...sorry, Dave))

I'm not that kind of man, I'm not that kind of fool
I refuse to abide, I won't live by their rules
Take off your blinders and look around, The Storm's just outside
Will you draw a line and take a stand, or run away and hide?

Don't run and hide

Open your eyes to the world outside you
Open your eyes to the world outside you
Open your eyes...

Just a scratch recording, but I think it rocks, anyway. I hope I get the chance to get in the studio and record it professionally.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

From what I witnessed, it is the other way around. the truly needy are the minority, the parasites make up the majority. At the Plant City Walmart return counter before they started giving store credit only on returned food, back hen they refunded cash, grocery carts filled to overflowing were lined up like freight trains and there were long lines of people waiting to get cash refunds on food bought with EBT cards. Since they went to store credit, it has went down to nothing.

And when the State of Florida shut down the EBT cards to change processing vendors, I was at Publix buying some soup. the guy in front of me had some deli made sandwiches and bottled water. He went to pay with it with an EBT card. The cashier told him that the system was down for now. He said o.k. and put his card back in his wallet. After he put his card up, he again reached into his wallet and pulled out a wad of bills that would choke a Mississippi mule and paid for his purchase from that wad.

Several years back, Galveston Texas hosted a spring break party for Obama type college students. The local Wal Mart closed down and installed their hurricane shutters. After the chilren left the island, the store reopened. The store manager made no apologies stating that he wanted to prevent shoplifting/looting and protect his employees.
Bet there are a lot of stores who take ebt are thinking this about now.

You are talking in terms of anecdotes that fuel emotional anger.

I am talking in terms of statistics that are devoid of anger provoking anecdotes of abuses.

50 million Americans are now having EBT. Regardless of their need justification this is an enormous increase from pre-Obama economic policy. Most of the EBT fund outflow is the result of people qualifying based on lower income due to the poor economy. This is Obama’s fault but it is also his plan.

Here is the solution cycle for the bulk of the EBT users today. When a lay off occurs or work drys up, and especially when there are children at home to feed, the first solution phase is to seek a new job or second job or multiple jobs. As jobs are scarce, the second solution phase is to seek help from charities or churches or humanitarian groups. When the lines are long and the problem is overwhelming, the third solution phase is to complain to elected officials who direct constituents to EBT and other assistance programs.

The EBT user population has more than tripled under Obama. This can be quickly reversed in a couple of years by having an economic growth policy. Obama doesn’t want that because he believes dependency breeds more democratic voters.

The answer to all of the above is, DON’T OPEN THE FRONT DOOR! In an emergency like that, I lock the hardened front door and don’t open it for any reason, period.

My door is all metal and every night, I place a heavy duty “Buddy Bar” under the door knob. It is so heavy duty, a person cannot kick the door open without staying at it for some time and I would hear those kicks. The door also has a vibration detector under it and if the door moves at all, a shrill alarm goes off. I would surely shoot anyone who defeated the door right now in real time. I would not be charged with anything in Texas. However, they might give me a medal for offing the criminal.

No, I am talking about events that I witnessed with my own two eyes. I was there when I saw them. I saw them at the Walmart checkout line swipe a card at the terminal go
through the payment procedure , get their receipt and then head straight for customer service.

Everyone gets a free pair of workshoes and a mower &/or a bucket and mop. Those are entry level jobs that most of us have had. It’s a start.

Except they don't want jobs. If you force them into a job they won't show up or won't work when they're there. If they do show up, they'll whine that min wage isn't good enough. I once made the mistake of firing a guy who was asleep in the janitor's closet. I was called on the carpet because his mama was the president of the local NAACP. He was back getting paid to sleep in the closet the next day.
