Ubamacare's fatal flaw... they can't just take your premiums out of your paycheck

Posted on 11/20/2013 10:13:32 AM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

The reason the income tax is not noticed by the low-information types is because they don't have to dig into their pockets to pay it. They actually think that an income tax refund is free money.

Unlike the income tax, the low-information types are going to have to dig into their pockets to pay the premiums for Ubamacare. That is not going to fly.

Ubamacare will never go away, but the hatred of it is going to grow and grow and grow...

A lot of low information voters aren’t even paying income tax, thanks to George W. Bush. No matter how low their income is, the worse thing that can happen for this country is to have workers not paying income tax. They need to have a skin in the game, otherwise every new government handout seems like a good idea. Seeing the income tax deduction on a pay stub is the best way to turn people into fiscal conservatives.

Very good points !

Of course the reverse is true too, some of the tax credits may seem like a gift from Obama for those that get them which is what Dems intended.

Problem for them is they didnt spend and expand them enough.

Actually, the way to have “skin in the game” is to do away with withholding altogether. That way every wage earner will KNOW what they’re paying.

Withholding is the artifice that has allowed near-unfettered federal government growth since it was implemented back in 1943.

Yep, let everybody cut a check at the end of the year. You’ll hear the screaming start.

Lo-fo’s get subsidies, which they can effectively receive through the year by upping the deductions on their withholding.

Those lo-fos get Medicaid, which doesn’t require any payments.

‘They can’t take your premiums out of your paycheck’.............yet. When I worked for the NHS in Britain a couple of decades ago, I didn’t file taxes. But once a year, I received a postcard from the Government telling me how much I paid (they withheld) to cover my taxation. I was making peanuts (not registered in my field in Britain) and they withheld around 50%.

At the very least, they should pay both halves of SS and Medicare, as the self-employed do. That would really wake people up by a simple change in accounting. (Though they could also brag about their raises in gross salary.)

Deduct the witholdings into a tax savings account. Require taxpayers to transfer the funds from that account on 4/15. Hold elections the following Tuesday. President is inaugurated on 4th of July.

Big changes ensue.

Oh....these insurance company bastages who sold us out to this thing having 470 days backlog of outstanding receivables would be SWEET JUSTICE, wouldn’t it???

Obamacare can force me to buy your insurance, it just can’t make me pay for it.

They can’t take Obamacare premiums and deductibles out of your paycheck, yet.

No, write a check EVERY MONTH.

Just like the electric bill or natural gas bill. Every 30 days they get a swift kick in the *ss about the real cost of government.

I haven’t written a check in 10 years. Online banking and now you can even send and deposit money from your smart phone. Cash and checks will be unheard of in 20 years.
