Senate Minority Leader "Fighting Mad"
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 22 Nov 2013 | John Semmens

Posted on 11/23/2013 9:43:36 AM PST by John Semmens

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev) move to eliminate the rule that required a 60-vote majority to end debate has “grievously irked” his GOP counterpart, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ken).

“Harry promised he would never use this so-called ‘nuclear option,’” McConnell complained. “When you put this together with the false promises of ‘if you like your insurance you can keep it’ that have been made by the president and virtually every Democrat over the past three years we see a pattern of deception that has destroyed the Government’s credibility. I’m fighting mad.”

McConnell says he places most of the blame on “Tea Party bullies who have undermined the collegiality I have worked so hard to build with Democratic members of the Senate. They let us keep the filibuster with the understanding that we wouldn’t use it to impede the important work of the Senate. But Paul, Cruz and Lee broke this agreement and now we see this long standing Senate tradition swept aside.”

The minority leader has told friends that he “will ‘cold cock’ these guys with a punch to the nose when they least expect it.” McConnell said he expects his personal version of the “knock-out game” will “serve the dual purpose of showing these guys who’s boss and curry favor with younger voters.”

That’s why he’s surrendering instead of fighting.

What's he going to do; wet his pants, hold his breath until he turns blue?! When it counted, McConnell did nothing. Why should we waste our time now looking for courage from him?

McConnell needs to go so we can find a real man to fight and not an insider that allows it to go this far to begin with.

Down IMO with the RNC and bring in new blood.

When we win the Senate, watch these cowards try and restore thet power TO the Democrats. I am glad it is dead. I want it to stay dead.

Did Dusty fight in ‘Nam too?

Harkin ye kindred souls
looking for a stoop

come sit now by Harry
nay to close for smell of poop

and listen to a tale
that makes his spirit glow

of how he saved the Senate
and nation just for being

a hate filled evil man
atop a dogpiled Senate

"collegiality" is the problem... it is the football that begs the Republican foot to kick it, only to be snatched away at the last instant... and yet it knows, as long as the big watery eye types populate the R-side of the senate, it can go on forever pleading, and the McConnell's of the senate, without fail, work up the nerve every time to test the veracity of the pleading football, "collegiality"... but of course it is the Tea Party's fault... the party that is no party, that has no governing power, that can make no laws, that can't get a hearing... Yah, I guess everybody needs a scapegoat...

He's a Demonic, you dumba$$... that's what they do. Too bad Harry isn't a Tea Party member, or else you give him a sound limp-wristed slap in the nose wouldn't you, you turtle-faced, marble-mouthed, gutless pansy?

Really?
How can anyone tell?

Words are cheap. I haven't seen what counts.

ACTION!

For at least 5 years, now...

What "collegiality" doofus?
Backing off and surrendering on pretty much everything, Obamacare, the deficit, continuing deficit spending, Non-Immigration Law compliance, exploding entitlements ---- you name it.

Haven't seen much backbone or principle of any kind.
If you are really serious about what you said, it's retirement time.

I do, but judging from the comments many don't.

The problem with satire is that when it is really good, it is so true, that you can't tell the difference.

It is like shades and tints, since I'm color blind, I don't know, but worse, for a long time, I didn't know that I didn't know.

It's kinda like SecDef's "Unknown, unknowns", known knowns, and known unknows". Say what?

If bad legislation is to be stopped, it is stopped in the Senate. Sen McConnell allowed by slight of hand to allow Obamacare to come to the Senate floor. McConnell did this to fire up the base & thinking that it would never pass the House. Mitch was wrong, and here we are. I’m a Kentucky resident, never missed any election cycle. I will vote for Matt B in the primary and should McConnell win the primary, I will vote for the D in the general election.

Damn me if you want, but sometimes radical procedures are needed to remove a cancer. Also if Matt Bevin wins the primary, he will the general.
