Last year a poll was conducted where more people thought Santa was a Democrat. I did a graphic for this back then in response to this, but I've updated it with a few new items to consider.
In last year's post it was a real squeaker...but this year one side really runs away with it...
TOPICS: Humor; Politics
KEYWORDS: conservative; liberal; santa; satire

Well, the original santa, Nikolaos of Myra certainly would not be welcome in the Democrat Party.

He’s conservative. He works year round managing and building and alwayscomes through on Christmas Eve. He doesn’t take “sick days” or claim disability.

I dunno, he gives out "gifts" no matter what.
Even though he "threatens" to hand out coal lumps, he always seems to come through with presents in the end. No matter how rotten kids are.
Plus he knows when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake.
Sounds like Obama's NSA to me.
He's magical, truly mythical, and is immune to laws of economics and simple math.
I think Santa's a liberal.
But since he isn't real and doesn't raid my wallet for "his" generosity, I'll give him a pass.

Golly have a Holly Jolly Christmas. Are you kidding the whole thing is about giving to get on both ends. Trade for performance. "If you are a good tike, you (?)might(?) get gifts."
But there is also "if you have great gifts for me, I will give you a good behavior year." Payment for results on both sides so it is definitely conservative.
Or if you do not perform well it is coal for you.... Or, if I am not good it is going to be coal for me, so I better be good.
It is all about payment for performance... if worked right it is about a lesson for both.
Parents to earn or save a little extra. Kids IF I am good it synches me to get other than coal and maybe even that new big wheel (are they even made any more).
Mine ended up going to college NROTC and became a combat officer (Aegis) on DDG's.
Still an officer and now has 2 masters and headed for a Doctorate.
Yep we milked Christmas right overall, so I guess we taught her the right stuff on paid for performance.
well that is not totally true. I also used to sing the McDonalds song on our Dad and Kid Thursdays dinner nights.
Me:"Get your bucket and mop, time to clean up the slop, do you want to be seen, at McDonald's it's clean... you deserve a break today.."
Her: "shut up dad! I am not working at McDonald's" so stop singing that."
Me: "How else are you going anywhere, cause it will be too hard for your mom and me to pay your way through college" "your mom and I both paid or own way I was just offering you some pictures of how you might..."
Her: "Dad I am not working at MickyD's." Me: "Okay, have you heard the Red Lobster song?"
After I did that several times and took her to Macs for dinner she got the message, and made the appointments with the officers at the NROTC, got the testing before the end of High School.
She was accepted in her junior year in HS. So as I said I guess it worked. :-)

Santa is definitely conservative, and I include references to authoritative subject experts who will vouch for this.
- He's a jolly, crazy, gone hepcat (see Oscar McLollie)--most liberals are angry sourpusses.
- He can be quite generous (see Eartha Kitt)--Recent studies have shown conservatives to be more generous than liberals
- He's a pipe smoker (see Clement Moore)--earning him the ire of liberal anti-smoking crusaders
- No Priuses or Yugos for Santa--his taste in cars runs from Cadillacs (see Babs Gonzales) to hot rods (see Lillian Briggs)
- He doesn't reward bad behavior (see Stan Freberg and George Hall)
- He demands high standards (see Dorothy Collins)

The Santa paradigm is ultimately conservative - you may be naïve and innocent and believe that you’re getting something for nothing, but eventually you come face to face with reality and learn that there’s a cost to everything....
To: The Looking Spoon
He’s conservative. With a wicked sense of humor. He puts coal in liberals’ socks. Must drive em’ crazy.
