Sen. Ron Johnson, a tea party Republican from Wisconsin, knows that the politics of Obamacare are changing.
Its no longer just a piece of paper that you can repeal and it goes away, he told the New York Times. Theres something there. We have to recognize that reality. We have to deal with the people that are currently covered under Obamacare.
Jan. 1 isn't likely to be a glitch-free day for Obamacare. There will be people who try to use their insurance and find they can't, or it's not the plan they meant to buy, or it's not a plan that covers their doctor. But those problems will, eventually, be solved. And their wake will be a game-changing reality: At least 2 million people will have health insurance through Obamacare's exchanges, and more than 4 million people will have health insurance through the law's Medicaid expansion.
The GOP's campaign against Obamacare has been most effective when Republicans could claim, reasonably or not, that the law was taking something away from people: Canceling their plans, or penalizing them for going without insurance, or changing their doctor. But by the end of March, it's likely that at least 8 million to 10 million people will be getting insurance through Obamacare.....

Should’ve read your post first. I said almost the exact same thing. Lol
I hope you are wrong, but we just do not know yet. And then you may be right. I think 2014 looks better for more democrats going down to defeat due to Obamacare. By 2016, it will be a done deal, too ingrained and impossible to dislodge.
If it were truly and ‘us’ vs. ‘them’ I might think there was hope.
Unfortunately the pubbies are just as much of ‘them’ as ‘they’ are. They’ve got their fingers in too many corrupt payback schemes to ever want to do away with things like they are now.
I am not clear exactly what Johnson understands, besides his understanding that certain people have obtained insurance coverages under plans set up under the federal and state government exchanges.
He may also understand that they are small in number compared to the millions whose plans and coverages and ability to keep plans and coverages have been negatively impacted as well.
He may also undestand that allowing any plans that exist today as subsidized plans to continue to exist does not require such plans be made permanent (health insurance directly under Medicaid can be provided without them), or that the income levels eligible for a subsdidy have to remain ($9X,000) for a family of four), or that transitions to changes in Medicaid and private insurance can be provided for them WITHOUT preserving anything of Obamacare directly.
The "Ted Cruz" of the 2010 senate class? Ha! In his dreams.
No. Ron Johnson was a fake who (sadly) rode in on the Great Tea Party Wave of 2010. He quickly outed himself. He's officially GOPe.
One of the GOP ideas is to give employees tax credits instead of employees paying for insurance.
That is not a subsidy tho the left will try to paint it that way...it will ensure that new markets will be created for individual shoppers which is what conservatives have wanted all along...AND
will lower prices for everyone.
This is part of Ryan’s patient protection act.
And how!
It only stands to reason that any proposal to replace Obamacare should take into account the circumstances of the currently-enrolled. It certainly doesn't mean that Obamacare can't be repealed.
This guy doesn't sound too intelligent based on this statement.
Who was that?
I'd like to know what else Johnson said.
Repeal plus thoughtful deregulation plus high risk pools plus tax rebates will actually work better than just repeal.
My apologies. I can’t remember his name as it happened the night it passed congress when the rats were celebrating its passage in a DC bar. I will look again to try and find it but maybe a freeper has a recollection of his name?
Johnson got comfortable in Washington...
“GOPe” is shorthand for “flat-out, yellow-bellied quisling turncoat”. Needs to be dragged out by his heels.
Believe the name is pronounced “Rinse Priapism.”
Now he is.
Johnson has fallen to being a crony krapitalist.
The only Strategery left is "Resist we much".
:-).....great minds...etc. etc. LOL
The left have a lot less arms.
