I have Netflix, and I keep hearing great stuff about House of Cards...I'm very close to checking it out.
I would definitely watch this show though...
I’ve watched it and it’s a pretty damning fictional portrayal of ruthless, sociopathic DemocRats.
HoC is a good series. It is more about the politics [backstabbing and backroom dealing] than then the political parties. The major characters are Dems, so they do take some occasional jabs as the Republicans and Tea Party.
Season 1 sets the tone and identifies the major players.
Season 2 gets downright mean.
Think of it as JR Ewing and Dallas, except on a grander scale in DC.
Recall the comment that passing legislation is about like watching sausage being made? Well, this shows the sausage-making machinery behind our government.
I would recommend watching the first couple of episodes. If you don’t like it after that, don’t waste your time. But, I was pretty hooked by then and just finished the final episode of Season 2 this afternoon.
It has already been renewed for a Season 3.
I haven’t seen this one, but I did enjoy the original British series starring Ian Richardson.
Do they have a narcissistic, petulant childlike president that can’t keep his business off golf courses?
I thought the Brit version was excellent. I could watch it all again. The US version's clips look lame to me.
"Francis Ewan Urquhart is a fictional Conservative politician created by Michael Dobbs. Known by his initials FU"
There was a FReeper post a few weeks ago suggesting HOC. We rented the first season and were hooked. Can’t wait for season two.
Who would want to watch a movie or series of the nightmare that we are currently living. Sort of like having a nightmare during your nightmare.
