Really...
MRC recently produced a video (linked at the following sentence) at the Congressional Black Caucus conference asking attendees if the same nutritional standards imposed on kids via Michelle Obama should be applied to food stams. What ensues is three minutes and fifty nine seconds of liberal intellectual bankruptcy at it's finest.
The money quote for me was at 1:27:
"I don't think it's the government's job to dictate what you can and cannot buy."
...Seriously.
It's an amazing quote from someone who would presumably follow those wanting to overturn Obamacare to the gates of hell...
Hat tip to Biden for that one...
The video just shows the blatant hypocrisy, I wish MRC showed us their explanation as to why one is ok (dictating what kids can eat in school) and the other is not (requiring people buy real food and not junk on the taxpayer's dime).
Between the two I would rather have responsibility with food stamps, at least then you could begin to have a rationale for government sticking its nose in your business.
Besides, kids aren't even eating the slop! So, like all things liberal it's either starve or take their medicine and live a miserable existence doing it. Next thing you know...
Whatever makes sense to you - they’ll do the opposite.
ROTFL!
I wonder what they would use the food stamps to buy other than food in Kalifornia or Colorado.../s
Welfare recipients would remember that come election time. What good is a handout if it doesn’t buy votes???
I think Ramen Noodles and cat food would be acceptable items to buy for those who pass a drug test.
Getting tired of wheeling & dealin’ for their liquor purchases.
I don’t think government should dictate what you buy with your food stamps either.
Coonan just came out with a compact model.
That’s because the REAL support for the Food Stamp Program comes from Walmart, A&P, Kroger, Ralphs, Piggly Wiggly, Kraft, Tyson Foods, Campbells, Heinz, Kellogg’s......
Indeed they are. :-)
*snort*
Hershey bars, PBRs,bacon, loosie cigarettes from whoever is selling them, and of course legal pot so I can maintain my munchies.
IMO, if you take government handouts, you take all the control it wishes to impose on you.
Don't want the government dictating your life to you? No strings? Don't take government handouts.
Food stamps should be only for REAL food. No junk food. No soda.
I thought the ridiculous example of Coonan coming out with a compact model, a) it being a handgun, and b) MSRP of $1595, would make it clear that I was being satirical about buying whatever you want with food stamps.
Obviously, most people would go for a Glock.
Agreed, I was making my statement that I could see the rationale for the sake of argument.
