OK, I've just watch the Nth iteration of Madison Avenue's everlasting attack of the last domestic enemy, the White Male (WM)! In recent memory there were the series of stupid Caucasian (non-Hispanic variant) men who 'starred' in the SPDR Fund ads.
Now we have the AT&T ad campaign with the current one showing the husband/father totally unable to manage while the all-knowing female was away. A previous ad in this campaign had an equally clueless WM in a Real Estate Agency group of 4 much smarter women.
There's a button on your remote control that does exactly that, but it sounds like you haven't tried it yet. Try turning your TV off.
That’s how you bring low the elevated. And of course there will always be some writers with the skill to do it well, and the majority that don’t.
I suppose advertisers want me to think that, if I buy brand X, I'll turn into an incompetent, emasculated child-like doofus.
Hahaha.. Truth hurts ;)
It is not just Madison Avenue ad writers. Shows for tweens on Disney and other trendy networks always have the kids talking back to parents and especially to any White male that manages an appearance.
> You are not alone. The constant portrayal of white males as idiots, scuzzballs, or crooks in commercials is in your face offensive. With any other group or sex, there would be howls of indignation and demands for retractions. With WMs, nothing.
Maybe its becaues we don’t have insecurity issues like the left does and don’t feel the need to disprove their false allegations because we know they’re just being idiots...
Assuming you aren't razzing me, SPDRs are a family of ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) that track grouped publicly traded stocks. In this case the name refers to the ETFs offered by the Wall Street firm, State Street Global Advisors.
It is not only tiresome but not accurate. It’s not that the women don’t know anything, but the men generally know as much, if not more about any given advertised topic - save women’s fashions and such.
totally agree.
Tired of the lies.
In my younger days I believed the vast majority of people were good..To my dismay I’ve come to the conclusion most are idiots, scuzzballs and crooks.
There is one which comes on several times a day. It starts out with a Black female saying “Women can do anything men can do” then it goes downhill from there. It is about heart disease and no real reason to have a snarky anti male female in it.
Just one of many Allstate ads begins with an idiot male saying something like “men are better drivers” then the female then comes in and makes him look like an idiot with her check for safe driving.
I want to tell Allstate to just lower their rates rather than give you some of your money back.
Anyway those type ads are all over TV.
Get used to it - Hillary’s running for President.
In six months you’ll see ads with men in diapers and women cracking castration jokes.
Oh wait, that’s already happening...
It’s not only to chip away at the genuine positive attributes of men, white men in particular (the builders/founders and the major creators in this country), but it’s also to program women to regard men - white men - like they are falsely portrayed in the commercials.
And since white men are the only unprotected, legally non-protected class - and you wonder why if they are all that stupid and inept - even if they complain they’ve got no liberal laws, policies or special interest groups to raise hell for them.
I know exactly what you mean.
This will cheer you up, tho. Saw it posted to Bernie Sanders over his ‘deodorant’ comments. XD

Watched my son 20 dealing with love interest. She wanted everything to go her way, all the time, interspersed with drama and worthlessness. Bizarre statement about how she and her mother don’t need a man.
He’s walking away.
I would love to find him a nice Christian Vietnamese or Filipino girl.
Put up a man’s man, white male presidential candidate who is competent as hell, and watch how fast all the other candidates tank :)
People keep forgetting this for some reason.
Agree on the All-State ad. With all the snarky females rubbing the guy’s nose in the dirt, no wonder men choose not to get married. No woman is worth a life of humiliation.
Mrs Right forgot to mention her first name is “Always”.
I am sick of this too. It’s the other major trend in the advertising to women.
Yep. FReepers have been noting this for years.
