LONDON In April 1945, code-breakers at Bletchley Park, England, intercepted the following telegram from Adolf Hitler, who was then under siege in his bunker in Berlin: The Führer attaches importance to the President of the Red Cross, the Duke of Coburg, on no account falling into enemy hands.
Karina Urbach, a German historian, believes that whatever information Hitler shared with Carl Edward, the Duke of Coburg who was a grandson of Queen Victoria, and a close blood relative to the current British monarchy it was damning enough to warrant an assassination request. Coburg, though, would manage to escape such a drastic fate and eventually died in 1954 of natural causes, aged 69.
Urbach has recently published Go Betweens For Hitler, a book that explores how members of the aristocratic class across Europe worked as secret negotiators for Hitler during the interwar years.

Why this sudden interest in the Royal family’s past (70-80 years ago).
What is the media trying to divert us from?
I hope they’re consulting with Obama and his minions; they’re experts at covering up the past and could learn a few things.
And who cares what people’s ancestors did in the ‘30s? By now, it’s “all new people”, with new beliefs and ideas.
OOPS!
Well, the European Royal families, that of Britain too are all connected; either by blood or by marriage. Not necessarily to Nazis or Nazi sympathizers, but certainly related to German royalty, nobility or aristocracy, included in those some who were married to Nazis.
Today although Germany is a Republic, you’ll find more nobility, royalty and aristocracy in Germany, by bloodlines, from bygone decades, than many other countries in Europe.
Probably, this issue is being highlighted following the recent State visit by the Queen and Prince Phillip to Germany.
The Queen & basically the House of Windsor have a direct German heritage - “Windsor” is an adopted name; originally, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (a branch of the House of Wettin) was changed to the English Windsor, due to the anti-German sentiment in the British Empire during World War I.
The Queen from her father’s side is German. Prince Phillip more so, and speaks fluent German. I understand 2 of his sisters were actually married to high ranking Nazis.
In Europe at least, the above are well-known, very public facts. Anyhow, none of the above means the Queen, her parents, or Prince Phillip were Nazi sympathizers.
Urbach says when she was previously writing a book on Queen Victoria, she was invited around for tea at the Royal Archives. However, when she started demanding any material involving details of the British monarchys dealings with Nazi Germany, the relationship turned sour.I was never asked for tea at the Round Tower at Windsor again, says Urbach.
I was ostracized by the Royal Archives because I wanted these papers. The Royal Archives claim that they are a private archive. Of course they are not. The British public are entitled to have access to this correspondence because its their history. You cannot just cut it out, or cover it up, because you dont want to upset the current queen.
The [Monarchy] pretend to be an open [institution] by publishing childrens letters Queen Victoria wrote, and beautiful pictures of royal babies. The things they are feeding us are charming and sugary. But it covers up the fact that they are not giving us the real historical material, says Urbach.
Probably, this issue is being highlighted following the recent State visit by the Queen and Prince Phillip to Germany. At a state banquet in Berlin on Wednesday, she made a speech that went far beyond her usual Christmas Day platitudes. For once, you felt there was real feeling here and real political meat.
I’ve had that exact same thought. “News” happens; it isn’t “made”, or at least shouldn’t be.
Personally, I believe it is a plot to completely divorce the traditional population from the idea of a monarchy - to make it on more amenable to the rule of the prevailing mob.
Yes, was just thinking about that too. The Queen is meant to be ‘above politics’, since Britain is a Constitutional Monarchy.
However, yes, she did say somethings along the lines of, and I paraphrase, Europe needs to be united...
I subsequently read that her comments were interpreted, by some, as being indirectly political; particularly in relation to the UK and whether the UK will continue to be in the EU.
I believe David Cameron was present during that recent state banquet in Germany. Anyway, Britain, I think, will hold a referendum regarding the choice of continuing to be in the EU. So, it isn’t simply the Queen’s call. But, it may be her “influence” ... perception & grey lines, so to speak.
His actual title makes things a bit clearer - the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He was a German aristocrat.
He had been a British one in his youth - as Duke of Albany, he was a Prince of the United Kingdom. But he was stripped of those titles for choosing to side with Germany during the First World War - never mind the Second one.
This no surprise! Most of the elite in Britain, western Europe and the United States were infatuated with Hitler and Mussolini, as well as Lenin and Joe Stalin. The whole lot of them were converts to Social Darwinism and the ugly pseudo-science of eugenics. It wasn’t until Hitler popped their balloons by invading neighboring countries that they even considered the possibility that they were deluded. And once the full extent of the Holocaust was known, they made sure history has forgotten their culpability in letting these monsters gain power.
Let’s see. Socialists hate the idea of royalty. They bring out ANYTHING to embarrass the Royals, to push for their departure.
Who here has not goofed around during family home videos? In 1933, Hitler was named Chancellor of Germany. To most European eyes, he was a bombastic, buffoon (sounds like a certain Kenyan fellow who is so admired also by the socialists). In 1933, no one expected Herr Schickelgruber to maintain power and set the world afire like he did. I’m sure the Royals were just mocking the Nazis in that video. History repeats, with the bombastic buffoon in the white but, aided by his socialst media pals. Another one seeking to set the world afire.
