Anyone who was around then remembers politicians making speeches assuring everyone that Muslims were peaceful and the 9/11 hijackers were an abberation. They felt they were keeping us riled-up yay-hoos from going nuts and burning down the nearest mosque. It’s an artifact of the times.

We have lost freedom since 9/11. It would never enter my mind to praise anything Muslim, particularly two weeks after 9/11. And actually, I haven't praised any Muslim since the oil embargo in the 1970's.

I believe any "science" that occurred in Muslim lands was borrowed/captured from the Greeks/Byzantines. The walls of Constantinople were only battered down with a before unseen cannon built by a well-paid Hungarian.

I flew to Florida to greet my new granddaughter two weeks after 9/11 and had the same experience as you.
I remember they searched our car before they would let us park in the airport parking garage and they confiscated nail clippers I had in my carry-on. Then I noticed they sold them in the airport bookstore.
