The Republican establishment in Virginia doesn’t even try to hide its fear and loathing of Donald Trump. They have even stooped to trying to force voters to sign a “loyalty oath†as an intimidation tactic to try to stop Trump.
This is why the new Overtime poll results from a survey taken from January 3rd to the 5th is both encouraging for Trump and should be troubling for his only remaining rival, Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
While the poll shows the usual solid lead Trump has overall–in this case a 9 point advantage at 28% to 19%–the headline doesn’t provide the data that is most important.
The survey is a new restatement of the fact that Trump is doing very well – actually regularly above 25% – with African Americans.
This poll shows that advantage continuing. It shows Trump gets 27% of the African American vote while Senator Cruz gets just 7%.
It another key indicator, while Trump gets just 11% of the Latino vote, Senator Cruz does surprisingly poorly among those he shares ethnicity with. Cruz gets only 4% support from Hispanics!

Cruz is okay but Trump really seems to get under liberal skins. Plus Trump is way more likely to win the general than Cruz. Do we really want that @#$% Hillary in for four years?

I like Cruz. I would vote for Cruz in the general election.
But I consider Trump far more electable.

you folks keep repeating that “trump is more likely to beat Hillary” This despite multiple polls showing that trump is the most likely to lose to her and others saying its neck and neck.
Just because you wish it so, does not make it so, FRiend. Rather than posting that nonsense, you should add, “I hope” or “I wish”...then at least it have some basis in reality.
I really find it hard to believe that Cruz would do better against Hillary than Trump regardless of what any poll taken up to now says.

What I trust are the massive rallies of enthusiastic Trump supporters. Neither Hillary nor Cruz has anything like that.

I believe Trump’s likeability will only decrease. What all the trumpeters seem to forget is that the crazy season is only JUST NOW really starting. As more people hear what Trump is actually saying, with the lack of specificity, lack of anything related to reality, and general boorish behavior, I believe he will start a slow decline.
I also believe that in a head to head, Hillary will play the put upon woman card the first time Trump acts like Trump. Everyone was celebrating his takedown last week by citing Bill’s behavior. That was just a trial balloon. Now they know how he will respond. When it is time, she will break out the “trump is treating me just as poorly as Bill did”... or some variety therein.
I also believe that there are a whole lot of conservatives will not vote for Trump because if the choice is progressive statist 1 or lifelong liberal 2, what’s the difference?
I’d be satisfied with either. I’d really prefer a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court for Cruz - especially if he replaces Snoozy Ginsburg.

Hillary will be creamed by Trump. She hasn’t got a chance.
