Congratulations to Cruz on his victory, now comes round two where a smarter Trump already leads

Last night Texas Senator Ted Cruz won a clear, if small, victory in the Iowa Caucuses. He worked hard and smart to achieve his victory over Donald Trump and Marco Rubio; hats for off to him.

Iowa is a very different place where different elements add up to victory. At this time it is unclear how Cruz did among the Evangelical voters who turned out in large numbers but they were not the only voters to turn out. Clearly he did well enough with other voters to reach his magic number.

Nevertheless, as the Iowa system works the worst news for both Trump and Rubio will merely be the headline showing them finishing second and third because while Cruz got 8 delegates for his win Trump and Rubio both got 7 delegates for finishing second and third. Now the process moves first to New Hampshire a sharply different type of state where Trump holds a large lead over both Cruz and Rubio.

Trump’s lead is currently larges enough to present a tall order for either or both to overcome and convince voters they deserve to win. The latest average of available polls from New Hampshire, shows Trump with a more than 20 point lead over both men. Can either or both close and beat out Trump in the Granite State? Stranger things have happened but that likelihood is not very great.

Trump ... has amassed a huge fortune during a lifetime of ups and downs. He has apparently been very good at learning from mistakes. He didn’t make too many in Iowa and finished with one delegate less than Cruz.

".. he is a quick study as shown by his ability to come so close on his first try; and a 20 point cushion to enter round two with.

Fair enough. Will you or Donald please explain to the poor, unwashed, uneducated among us just how he’s going to get the Mexicans to pay for the wall? I have an idea, actually that will almost certainly work; I just want to see if he has a clue, since he doesn’t appear to have thought about it beyond the confines of a sound bite.

The military? He doesn’t know a damned thing about the military. He didn’t even know what the nuclear triad is.

“If Donald realizes that it is time to tone down insults which are offensive to many Evangelicals, get substantive to bring in on the fencers of both parties, explain his changes and humanize himself and explain how populism is true conservatisim he can win. Keep going as is is starting to wear thin.”

I see. So, all Donald has to do is completely change his personality and style, learn the substance of the campaign issues, explain why he politically flipped 180 degrees and sell one political philosophy as another, and presto! Even in saying this, it has to be obvious to Trump fans that he is not a good person, he is not a trustworthy person, he is not a conservative and he needs to remake himself to win an election. How in the world are so many FReepers supporting him?

Exactly. Too bad more people don’t see this. But then, they let other people do their thinking for them.

I wouldn’t be if I believed that Ted lied. But he didn’t and I don’t.

You are missing the point by a wide margin due to tunnel vision. Trump throughout his life has ALWAYS hired the best people for the job, whether engineer, architect, or brickmason. What makes you think he won’t follow the pattern he has lived by and appoint the VERY BEST ADVISERS to his Cabinet? It is the way he thinks...Get the BEST on the job and you’ll get the best results. He won’t have some flunky queer advising him on the Military. He’ll have a proven leader...probably someone after the fashion of Patton, if such a man still exists. I don’t worry about the military under Trump. It scares the hell out of me what Cruz or Rubio would do to it!
Trump has told you how Mexico will pay for the wall at least a dozen times. He will use TRADE as his leverage. You know it is a scientific fact you can move an unmovable stone with LEVERAGE. Mexico needs to pay for our Trade. They are now getting a free ride all around and we lost everywhere. Think they won’t build the wall? Ha, you’ve no understanding of economics.

I don’t give a hoot or holler what he says. I give a damn about WHAT HE CAN DO TO SAVE AMERICA! Besides, “It ain’t braggin’ when it’s the truth.”

I’d a thousand time more like to know what he is thinking than trust the country to someone who explains to his backers BEHIND CLOSED DOORS that being nice to Trump is “All part of the plan.” Shows loud and clear he is a polished liar playing a part in his little skit.

Agreed. And how are we not all sick to death of lawyers climbing that ladder? They all make me sick!

I see nothing creepy about admiring an outstanding daughter. Nothing creepy at all. I suppose all his accolades towards his sons should also be considered creepy? You’re not just dead. You’re brain dead.

Because the FReepers supporting him have some intelligence. Those supporting the political hacks are not weighing the important things they are so bogged down in trivialities.

Well, I guess you told me! You’re quite right; I guess I do have tunnel vision. I’m just a poor, dumb country boy with absolutely no ability to do research, no education, no knowledge of macro or micro economics or anything of the sort; I just lead a business unit worth about $45 million (that was worth less than $10 million three years ago), so I defer to you.

I rely solely on generalities and feelings and never look deeper and I’ve never carefully examined the voting records of any candidate, especially Ted Cruz, because I take everything he says at face value. Did I mention that I’m incapable of independent thought?

You’re right and lawyers dominate Washington. I said back in college that lawyers and insurance companies would govern America. Came true.

Congratulations on your success. You, of all people, should understand Trump. Why don’;t you? What makes you support just another politician who will continue to sell America out and supports the New World Order? Or are you FOR the New World Order? i believe some on this site are.

You’re right- it’s perfectly normal to express your longing to “date” your daughter. Weirdo.

It’s not “longing.” It’s fatherly pride. You’re the weirdo.

Maybe. But it’s rare that politicians change or grow when you’d like them to. Mostly, they just go on making the same mistakes (like the rest of us).

I’m sorry, MP1. I just don’t hear a rational answer to the simple question people are asking. You say Trump needs to completely change who he is, how he behaves and what he believes to get his campaign back on track. Yet, you are incapable of seeing the gaping huge hole that puts in any rationale for supporting him. I know he drives the libs, the PC’s and the media crazy and I love it. But that’s not a governing philosophy. All rational measure of what a candidate stands for and how he will govern do not support a view of Trump as a Constitutionalist, as a conservative or a limited government man. And the minute you point that out, you get a hail of abuse and no rational answers.
