Congratulations to Cruz on his victory, now comes round two where a smarter Trump already leads

Last night Texas Senator Ted Cruz won a clear, if small, victory in the Iowa Caucuses. He worked hard and smart to achieve his victory over Donald Trump and Marco Rubio; hats for off to him.

Iowa is a very different place where different elements add up to victory. At this time it is unclear how Cruz did among the Evangelical voters who turned out in large numbers but they were not the only voters to turn out. Clearly he did well enough with other voters to reach his magic number.

Nevertheless, as the Iowa system works the worst news for both Trump and Rubio will merely be the headline showing them finishing second and third because while Cruz got 8 delegates for his win Trump and Rubio both got 7 delegates for finishing second and third. Now the process moves first to New Hampshire a sharply different type of state where Trump holds a large lead over both Cruz and Rubio.

Trump’s lead is currently larges enough to present a tall order for either or both to overcome and convince voters they deserve to win. The latest average of available polls from New Hampshire, shows Trump with a more than 20 point lead over both men. Can either or both close and beat out Trump in the Granite State? Stranger things have happened but that likelihood is not very great.

Trump ... has amassed a huge fortune during a lifetime of ups and downs. He has apparently been very good at learning from mistakes. He didn’t make too many in Iowa and finished with one delegate less than Cruz.

".. he is a quick study as shown by his ability to come so close on his first try; and a 20 point cushion to enter round two with.

Do you think it is rational to elect someone who has already proven his propensity to vote according to his own best interests instead of the best interests of the country? I do not ask that the man change who he is. That’s what the chameleons in the senate and house do. They are one person on the campaign trail and change once they reach Washington. No thanks. I’ll take Trump, warts and all. At least I know who he is and what he thinks.

I’ve watched him for years. Family member worked for him. I understand where he’s coming from.

I agree with you. And I believe Trump has the better chance of winning and being an effective President, so I will stay with him. They both have warts, but they're not career criminals or Communists (or Muslims).

Possibly, but ANY of the three governors running would be a MUCH better choice than either of them.

That , if it's not my guy, I won't vote is EXACTLY why we have suffered through 7 years of the village idiot.A vote for a candidate, even if he/she is not your choice, is normally a vote against a far worse choice.....wake up.

“...New Hampshirites never seem to care what the caucus results are in Iowa nor should they...”

And “New Hampshirites” just loves them some RINO’s too, with Guinta and Ayotte... Trump or Rubio should be a good match for them.

OK. We’ve got your ambiguous anecdotal testimony of 1 person on one hand. On the other hand, we have thousands of statements, films, books, speeches, court records and testimonials of other people who say he’s nasty, deceitful, liberal, a political chameleon and that he changes his views like underwear.

Why can’t Trump fans just admit that, for whatever reason, they have abandoned logical analysis because they just like Trump, they like his chaotic, brash, obnoxious, in-your-face persona and they don’t give a damn about what he’s done or will do?

I guess I forgot to mention: I don’t care. Cruz, Rubio, et al., would be no better than Hillary, Sanders, Biden. They’re all Uniparty. What Cruz and Rubio have done while in office show that they’re easily manipulated by the Dems and I don’t predict any come-to-Jesus moments for them to occur magically if President.

I suggest you do a little independent research on what the popularly-held conception of the New World Order really is. To most people, what we refer to as the New World Order consists of entities like the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Illuminati, the Bilderberg Group and others. Rank and file politicians are not members of those groups, nor are normal businessmen and women like me. They consist of some of the wealthiest (i.e., billionaires) and most influential people in the world.

Thus, there is a much greater likelihood that Donald Trump - a billionaire, and not me, supports or is tied to the New World Order. And, for the record, I know I’m not a globalist and I don’t think Trump is.

I don’t trust polls. But, i can’t believe you would think that Cruz would have a chance more than Trump. To be honest, I’d rather have Rubio than Cruz. Cruz messes it up preaching all the time...he’s turning ppl off.

No. Trump need not change anything other than emphasis.
