Cruz supporters: Did Cruz's comments change your mind on him?
vanity | March 12, 2016 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

I am a Trump supporter but I would like to know if Cruz's comments about Chicago changed the mind of any of his supporters. Is it A) no difference I still support Cruz B) I am rethinking my support for Cruz C) I am now going to support another candidate or not voting?

You might want to post Cruz’s statement. It cuts down on the BS just a bit. Unfortunately, only a bit.

"Any candidate is responsible for the culture of a campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord."

I'm so over Cruz :-(

A few months ago I made this graphic

Last night after Cruz blamed Trump and gave the thugs a pass I made this... so yes, I have dumped Cruz!

I had planned on voting for Mr. Cruz in the AZ primary. I have enjoyed seeing Mr. Trump cause consternation and heads to explode (figuratively speaking) and wished him well. Now, I will vote for Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz can only blame himself for this. I do not know why he said what he said about Mr. Trump causing thugs and paid agitators to attack him but I do not believe it for a minute. The left is becoming more unhinged and more blatantly violent as time passes. I pray they do not go so far as to incite reciprocal violence.

Neil was bloviating this morning on the news, blaming Trump for Chicago. He’s as much of a liability as Beck. Cruz didn’t have to blame Trump when it was moveon, Sanders, Ayers and BLM. That was retarded.

What iceman said. Seriously, he has a Bush brother on his team; how can that not be a sellout?

I would have voted for him if he won the nomination but now I’d be willing to let Shrillary win. The tree of liberty will get watered sooner with her in the WH.

"He did not blame Trump for creating the violence. That’s disgusting to even make that claim."

Oh, SuzyQue - they will take your statement as a direct attack on their beloved Donald.
Be careful - anything but the highest praise for Trump will bring retribution.

..an ill-timed and ill-advised statement that contained an element of truth. The fully mobilized left should have been the ones labeled as the main threat. And they have only begun. No matter who the nominee is. Short answer: no...

I’ve watched Trump with amusement but never thought he would last as long as he has. I like his blunt NY style being a native New Yorker myself.

Ted Cruz is the only candidate that I have actually donated to. I want to elect someone who respects our Constitution and I thought that was Ted.

After his disgraceful press conference last night regarding Trump in Chicago I won’t vote for him. He is not on my side. He is part of “them” that want to shut Americans up.

he’s dead to me. Now white people can’t defend themselves? I’ll go dig a hole in the cemetery for myself right now and get in it to make it easier for Ted. Now we can’t meet at rallies because that is wrong somehow? I have been vehemently opposed to Trump but never did he say hit those blacks hurt those Spanish. Cruz. He’s dead to me. take those New York values you ***

Why are the Bushies still pushing buttons here? But anyway, Cruz blaming Trump for ‘creating and environment’ rather than blaming the leftist thugs for last night is beyond the pale, and he deserves to lose support for saying Trump created the situation.

Not a good comment for Cruz to say, but no candidate is perfect. I don’t think I could support Trump under any circumstance.

Possibly. It’s also possible that every one of those idiots who even hinted that Trump brought this on himself could be shut down as well. Then what will they say?

Trump was nowhere in the picture when the rent-a-mob destroyed Ferguson, MO. What is their excuse for that?

No I’ve not been turned by any of Cruz’s comments. I’m still with Cruz and that is because he is leading by example. Have any fights or riots happened at a Cruz rally? The left hates him as well but it has not gotten crazy at any of his events has it? As for any insults implied about Trump supporters Cruz is always careful to make sure Trump has said the equivalent thing first.

“What did he blame Trump for?”

Ted Cruz accused Trump of encouraging the violence and blamed Trump’s campaign of committing violence in the following quotation of his remarks:

[Ted Cruz] I also want to mention something about the events this evening, in Chicago. This is a sad day. Political discourse should occur in this country without a threat of violence, without anger, and rage and hatred directed at each other. We need to learn to have disagreements without being disagreeable, to have disagreements while respecting human beings on the other side. Earlier today over thirty people were arrested in one rally, and then tonight as violence broke out the rally was canceled altogether. Now the responsibility for that lies with protestors who took violence into their own hands. But in any campaign responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate who is responsible for the culture of the campaign, and when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty [unintelligible].

[Video was edited, reporter comments and questions, unintelligible wording]

[Ted Cruz] I think the decision should be based on public safety. But I think a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment when the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence to punch people in the face. The predictable consequence of that is that it escalates, and today is unlikely to be the last such instance. We saw earlier today in St. Louis over thirty arrested. That’s not how our politics should occur. You know, the City of Chicago in 1968 saw some ugly days, when politics descended into hatred and instability and even violence, and it is my hope that in 2016 that we can appeal to our better angels avoid going down that road once again.
