In 2012 the GOPe gave us the architect of Obamacare Mitt Romney a crash dummy we had to hold our nose to vote for. An estimated 3.5 million potential conservative voters stayed home and another 17% of those who did show up actually voted for Obama.
Shortly after the 2012 disaster an analysis of the voting patterns in four states was conducted. The resultant data are facts the GOPe would just as soon we didnt remember.
It found that with a total number of just 333,908 switches in votes in New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio and Virginia, Romney would have gained 64 Electoral College votes and beaten Barack Obama 270 to 268. But of course that was never going to happen because Romney was a decidedly poor candidate who inspired people to do the previously unthinkable and stay home, even knowing it would reelect Obama.
Romneys campaign inspired no one.
Voter turnout fell by 9 million and Romney got 1.3 million fewer votes than McCain. Romney got 81,000 fewer votes in Ohio than McCain did in 2008.
Romney lost the most winnable election for president since Ronald Reagans 1984 landslide.
This year we have seen the rise of Donald Trump who is the total opposite of Romney. Everywhere Trump goes he generates excitement and as reported by a recent Gallup survey, enthusiasm among Trumps supporters is at an extraordinarily high...

Because trump is winning with voters. At the end, trump will have 35 contests. Cruz 11. Rubio 3 and Kasick 1. Get it now? We don’t want a guy selected who did not win with voters.
I dont think those rules have been used very often to stop the front runner who won major states (not just caucuses) and brought millions out to vote. Those rules wont fly this election. We gave the GOP power and they have pretty much stabbed us in the back one last time.
I don’t expect a contested convention. Trump will either get 1237 or do a deal with Kasich most likely.
The bottom line is contested convention in the age of social media would be a disaster for the entire GOP ticket. If “Trump” bound delegates do not vote Trump on all ballots at the convention the GOP is dead in November. They know that. There will be no contested convention.
Cruz is just making a drama to motive his voters and distract from his terrible losing performance at the ballot box.
Cruz’s unfavorable rating is 60 percent. Both close to the same.
And if you trump cultists think your guy has any chance of winning in November, you need to be committed and heavily medicated.
If Trump delegates decide to change the rules to allow an outcome other than Trump you will see riots.
Scared? You should be.
I see my local “Trump” delegate here in FL to the national convention is the... drum roll please.... the GOP County Chairman.
George Wallace observation is completely anecdotal. But drew big crowds in Houston circa 1968.
To my mind Trump support is based mainly on anger and hope; the former of which I have much, the latter of which I have little as politics has no capacity to find a lost culture.
60 percent and he’s still virtually unknown ...!
YUGELY unlikeable!
Once Trump gets the Cruz dogsh!t off his shoe he will start in on the Chappaqua Witch. Trump wins in a 50 state landslide of biblical proportions.
There is nothing unprecedented about Trump’s numbers. Reagan had exactly the same unfavorablity rating at this time in 1980—last paragraph:
BTW, according to RCP, Cruz’s unfavorabilty is 59%.
And if you trump cultists think your guy has any chance of winning in November, you need to be committed and heavily medicated.
You should be worried about Kasich now. He’s polling well in the North east. Nothing says next POTUS like 3rd place in a run of primaries. LOL.
“Ready to act when the “rules”, designed to screw over the will of the people and place the establishment candidate in control.”
Trump does not represent the will of the people. Trump has a 70% unfavorable rating and more than 60% of the people given a choice have voted not Trump.
There are no “established” rules yet. The rules for the 2016 convention will be decided at the convention.
The eGOP doesn’t care. If they can’t be in control then no one gets to be in control. Childish behavior.
Several thoughts here:
1 Establishment makes Establishment “rules” to benefit Establishment. They craft the rules to fit their game to ensure their desired outcome. I’m not sure at what point in history this happened, but I do know that many are just now coming to this realization.
2 THEY DON’T WANT THEIR PARTY TO WIN. With their recent nominees, this should be fairly obvious to the attuned observer. The GOPe is really a branch of the Democrat party. They work together to self-enrich and enjoy the DC party scene.
2 The RNC would rather not contend with real opposition within their private organization. Why should they? Their game has been working so well for so long. They look upon outsiders as annoying ants at their picnic, to be repeatedly swatted away until those pesky insects take a hike.
3 It appears to me there are two different kinds of Cruz supporters: those who are genuinely duped by this actor’s theatrics, and those who are political operatives, whose “job” it is to seek out, attack, and destroy the efforts of those who attempt to expose the choke hold the Elites have over the general population.
4 To the former, may the veil be lifted.
5 Re: the latter: Debate with these people is fruitless, and serves only as distraction for true patriots.
This post is a response to you and FR readers, NOT to them. Do not be discouraged with their lies, smears, demeaning, mockery, and attempts to distract (with mention of Trump) from the cause of liberty.
Cruz and his Establishment evil-doers are Tyranny enablers.
Trump does not represent the will of the people. Trump has a 70% unfavorable rating and more than 60% of the people given a choice have voted not Trump.
Not in my battleground state. Trump won every county but one against a favorite son sitting Senator. Rich, low income and middle class. All Trump.
And Cruz? Totally noncompetitive in all the battleground states. There has not be a worse national candidate in generations. Ted Cruz will never be POTUS.
Reagan was the great communicator; Trump is the great bloviator and shows no promise of being anything other than that come general election time.
Would you be as smug if the convention produced a candidate that never participated in the primaries, like Ryan or Romney? And please don’t respond by calling me a Trump supporter because you don’t know my mind.
Name-calling is not analysis. Try again.
Nothing other than make Trump follow the established system rather than just coronate him.
I wouldn't put it past them to make it difficult for either him or Cruz to get the nomination but so far, it seems far more talk and paranoia than actuality.
LMAO!!! Sure... whatever you say.
