Bernie Sanders takes an opulent private plane trip to Rome
Blasting News ^ | April 16, 2016 | Mark R. Whittington

Sen Bernie Sanders has gotten a lot of mileage from her persona as a cranky, old socialist and a man of the people. The issue of global warming has also been one of his main talking points. However, as the UK Telegraph noted, Sanders is starting to get seduced by the trappings of power even before he has gotten the nomination. At the same time his opponent Hillary Clinton was being jeered at by Sanders supporters for hobnobbing with the likes of George Clooney and Steve Spielberg at a ritzy fund raising dinner, the socialist from Vermont was winging his way to Rome on a private jet to kiss the pope’s ring and pontificate about income inequality and climate change. The plane was a Delta 767 which can seat 250 or so people, though Sanders only took 50 in his entourage.

Pope Benedict didn't die, he wasn't even sick. He was forced out in a power play by the "social justice warrior" aka "liberation theology" priests who have risen to the rank of cardinal since their radical younger years.

I thought I saw the old commie disembark from a Delta jet...and the announcer said he flew coach.

This is a non-issue. Sanders takes 50 people along for a very short trip to Rome. He has plenty of campaign money, transparent, from small donors, so nobody is buying him with a ride in a plane.

It would've been a massive inconvenience for other travelers at airports and make campaign scheduling impossible if he didn't use a private jet.

Give Sanders credit where credit is due. His going to Rome and even having a short meeting with the Pope vs hillary at deep-pocket donor dinners. Stunning.

Unfortunately the Pope is a Communist, like Sanders.

Opulent? Of course! This is because Bern has contained within his person the vast Moral center of the universe. Every day Bern calls for ALL the money in America and ALL the guns in America to be put entirely in HIS control. Shouldn’t a guy THAT big be traveling in style?

The commie is doing America a favor by being a continual drag on the Hildebeast. Anything he can do to solidify connections may induce him to run as an independent. Like they say, there’s no fool like an old fool. And the commie is an old fool who can be useful.

As long as he’s beating Hillary in any way shape or form he’s destroying the widely held view, even among conservatives, that’s she’s invincible. She isn’t. The woman is being judged in the court of public opinion and she’s losing.

Trump being a marketing maven has tried out various labels for Hillary. I think his latest, “Crooked Hillary” is simple, succinct, and plays on people’s emotions. It may be the winner. Hillary is being tag teamed by the FBI, Trump and the commie. I just wish the commie had an A game. So far he’s been bush league. He needs to pound the hell out of her.

The women needs to be “educated” with a political 2x4 applied frequently and with fervor. With the additional revelations from the Panama Papers both the commie and Trump have plenty of ammunition.

The more ground Hillary loses especially, the more the power brokers in the Democrat party will see her as being increasingly risky.

Obama came out supporting Hillary to reassure decision makers in the party. The more she’s lambasted, the harder it will be for her to maintain that level of support.

When the Clinton’s used the foundations to evade taxes on the profits from racketeering, they put that money beyond reach accept for reasonable expenses. They need the big donors. Once those fall by the side, the Clinton’s will have to use their own money. They won’t want to do that.

They are headed for a nasty wake up call. I’m still hoping the commie grows a pair.

You cannot say Bernie Sanders abuses public monies. Or that he’s in anything for the money. That’s not his thing.

“It would’ve been a massive inconvenience for other travelers at airports and make campaign scheduling impossible if he didn’t use a private jet.”

No it wouldn’t. I flew in first class with a famous presidential candidate aboard a Delta flight coming back from Italy. He was the last to board (he apparently had VIP accommodations at the airport since he wasn’t in the first class lounge) and the first to leave the plane and no one bothered him the entire trip (I was sitting one row behind him) although as we were leaving many of us wished him well. I think 95% of the people on the plane didn’t even know he was aboard. He was met by NYC police at the door of the plane, and I walked right behind him off the plane and all the way to the JFK customs line where he was met and went through a separate entry.

The article states that Sanders was travelling with 50 people in his entourage. He only took a short break from campaigning.

For 50 people, it might have been not much more expensive to rent the jet.

On certain things I'll defend Sanders. Making an efficient and economically sound financial decision is something I'd expect from him.

What was his net worth before and after entering into politics? He’s a millionaire who never had a job before becoming a mayor at 40. Where did it come from??

There is no easier way I’ve seen to become wealthy with very little work and absolutely no risk than in government.

It was a private plane, and many people on it were his own family (his children and grandchildren), so I wouldn’t say it was exactly a campaign expense. Where did the money come from?

He and the pope are so ‘umble that I can’t imagine how they can be doing all this traveling. Not to mention all the global warming they’re causing, the indigenous peoples they’re oppressing, the dolphins they’re killing, etc.

And of course, no matter how short the trip, Francis always manages to get off a press interview that destroys what little remains of the Catholic Church.

Everything you say might be true. Except about the campaign expense. The contrast of Sanders in Rome and having a short meeting with the Pope vs hill and Bill at obscenely expensive fundraisers for the elite of CA is worth a million dollars of advertising.

I also think it helps our cause. In the general, Trump might be the billionaire, but he's the one going to every corner of NY while hillary had better ways to spend her time. Images like this could get fed up Sanders voters to choose Trump instead of the witch.

If he was the socialist he proclaimed to be he would have loaded his plane with like minded socialists, for the fuel savings alone.

Oh, I completely agree. It is a shame they get such salaries and then all the other perks and connections.
