HOUSTON A man came to the rescue when his relatives next door were tied up and assaulted during a home invasion in northeast Houston overnight. The uncle, who lives next door, heard the screaming and came to the rescue. Some accounts say that the Uncle came across an invader beating a family member in the back yard; another says that the Uncle broke into the house and shot the invaders. The presence of three .223 steel casings in the driveway indicates shots were fired before the Uncle entered the house, if he did.
Houston Police Department officers responded around 4 a.m. Tuesday to a call of a burglary in progress at a home in the 3700 block of Crandon Street.
They had my little sister at gunpoint, so we couldnt do anything, said 19-year old Rene Garcia.
He and his twin brother tried to lock themselves inside their bedroom when they heard their mom and dad screaming and struggling. At least one gunman threatened to shoot a family member if Rene and his brother didnt open their bedroom door, Garcia said.

In Kolbe, the 10-judge majority concludes that the guns and magazines covered by Maryland's ban are "dangerous and unusual" because they are "exceptionally lethal weapons of war" that are not appropriate for civilian use: "We are convinced that the banned assault weapons and large-capacity magazines are among those arms that are 'like' 'M-16 rifles''weapons that are most useful in military service'which the Heller Court singled out as being beyond the Second Amendment's reach."Heller did nothing of the sort. But that did not stop the 4th Circuit from concocting the lie.
No reporting of the caliber by the reporters on the scene.
It seems that the .223 can take down perps 3 at a time day or night.
Not far from me, you may remember, a man shot and killed 3 perps in a home invasion.
That’s another Tre for the .223.
Someone should bring up the percentage of police cruisers which carry at least one AR-15. The AR has replaced the shotgun in an increasing number of police depts.
There should be a ruling that any firearm in use by police departments or the people protecting politicians and judges are, by that fact alone, appropriate for possession by citizens for protection against criminals and terrorists.
"Every man a rifleman".
Citizens are rarely protected by police. The police are basically writing reports of what has already happened and protecting them selves. That’s just the way things are. In any event they are hamstrung by the courts. We have heard on many occasions they can’t do anything because they didn’t see what happened. Lately a state trooper wouldn’t go into an abandoned house where meth was obviously being cooked and wouldn’t call for back up.
What we are seeing is overworked police and ambulance drivers not getting to people in need because of constant runs to treat over doses and this in rural counties that used to be extremely safe.
Caliber?
The .222 hunting rifle can shoot exactly the same bullet a .223 does. And for that matter the exact same bullet as my .221 Fireball pistol.
Where do we get such dummies as judges?
Lethal? What the hell is a gun for?
They simply don’t get it. The 30-06 deer rifle is one hell of a lot more lethal than the .223.

Very good description of the “exceedingly lethal” .223 rifle.
At ranges up to 150 yards, 170 gr cast lead bullet loads with my 30-30 are much more lethal than the popular .223. And I can reload them for 12-15 cents per round.
Have ya noticed the police departments these dayz? They are the military. Obozo’s statement there be a civilian force as well armed....
AR with cheap Russian TulAmmo steel case rounds would be my guess...always good to have an uncle or brother living next door...
“Where do we get such dummies as judges?”.......
They recruit them from journalism classes, news rooms, etc.
I’m feeling bad about the home invaders . . . the one which survived.
And I can reload them for 12-15 cents per round.
Are you buying the bullets? Purchased the primers and powder during the ammo bubble?
Casting your own bullets and with reasonable primer and powder prices it only was about 6 cents a round when I was doing it.
.223 is a fine cartridge. You can carry 3 of them for 1 30-30.
The 2nd Amendment SPECIFICALLY guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms of MILITARY utility (”weapons of war”), or the “well regulated militia” clause makes no sense.
cast them. wheel weights
Oh, I know .223 is a fine cartridge. You can carry lots of rounds.
But “lethality”? Bigger is better in some things.

Add .218 Bee. An a hundred other rounds (yes I love that round for varmints)

Yes that ol lever action 3030 round is great in the brush as well where the speed and weight of 223 will only send it off in another direction once it hits a limb.
I just scored 1000 rounds of 147gr 762 the other day to feed my M1A for 51 cents a round. Gives me plenty (lil less than 5K) enough that for testing purposes I went down to my back tank and did some turtle thumping with them. Buzzards had a field day the following day.
“Hous-town” is now America’s most diverse city, “didn’t ja no?”
