Friendly reminder that I'm posting this under BLOGGERS & PERSONAL so anything goes. I can post pretty much anything I want in here and it doesn't have to do with anything about politics.
So grounding.
The premise is that the human body is electrically charges and so it is necessary to put on your bare feet and put them on the ground for a while with no shoes or socks.
Sounds all new-agey and hippie-like. I know.
But I am a convert. When I spend some time outdoors in my bare feet on a regular basis, I really do feel better. I sleep very good too and have vivid dreams. I have more energy.
Spent a week on the beach recently and pretty much went barefoot 100% of the time. It was amazing for my well-being and my blood pressure was a near perfect 118/78.
So maybe it's a bunch of New Age claptrap to many but I do think there is some merit to going barefoot on a regular basis.
Winter is tough thought. I did go out in the snow last winter in barefeet but could never last longer than a few minutes. Not sure if that's enough for proper grounding.
It worked perfectly well until the plane ungrounded itself
The human body is a capacitor and needs to be discharged occasionally. With all the modern magnetic fields we have created for ourselves it needs to be done more often. Ever wonder why you feel tired and like you have a hang over when you get home from camping when you should feel rested?
This is all those fields hitting you again after not having them while you were out away from them. We are not designed to have all those fields hitting us and it can truly affect our health in an adverse way.

From a EE, fergetaboutit.
re: “The human body is a capacitor and needs to be discharged occasionally.”
BS.
Your semiconducting epidermis layer does this ...
Is that sorta like toneitis?/s
I tried grounding a couple of FReepers. I was not successful.
My mom was a victim of static electricity. She couldn’t get out of the car without getting zapped. You might be onto something.
ANY effect is a result of *suggestive influence*!
IOW, it’s your own mind ‘tricking you’.
But hey - if a cost-free placebo is effective, go with it.
re: “She couldnt get out of the car without getting zapped.”
Nylons against “Rich Corinthian Leather” does it all the time ...
That's where my mind was going with this. In the 1980's, we had a Grounding Engineer sent from Richardson HQ to our Central Office/Terminal due to excessive crosstalk and interference complaints. The man was genius! He took an old hand held transistor radio with the dial jammed over off of any transmitting channel and walked around the room like Sherlock Holmes/Colombo with a geiger counter. He found two ungrounded raised floor pedestals that were inserting interference into our station ground plane from an ATC RADAR facility a few hundred yards away from us for Dobbins ARB.
Years later at another location I had transferred to experienced a lightning strike crashed our DACCS (DXC) and kept it down for a day and a half. I removed 21 blown circuit boards, thousands of dollars a piece. The same Grounding Engineer found numerous individual problems with and imbalance between the power ground and the signal ground. They even ended up grounding the 12 foot chain link fence sections to the M/W tower pedestals and placed GFI shunts in every point the floor rebar touched a ground, so that any lightning strike would only go to ground. Years earlier, the night shift technician had seen ball lightning travel down the cable traces so the actual problem had been there for years.
We even lost a fiber optic backbone path when lightning hit a tree, jumped into a pull box in the ground and traveled to the next box, crystallizing the fiber when the metal O/W buttset lead was vaporized. The fiber techs found the lightning fulgurite from the tree to the pull box.
Grounding is very important and should be a primary concern with electronics.
People grounding is only so much new-age hogwash. People change ionic charges throughout a day with no effect other than zapping a friend with a handshake.
The Chinese practice of Chi Kung is similar. There are numerous pressure points in the soles of the feet, which align with various meridians of the body. A key part of chi Kung is to create a grounding effect; aikido as well as many other martial arts promote this idea as well.
Childhood memory: My dad sent me down to Alabama every summer to keep me out of trouble in the city up north. All my cousins down there went barefoot all day long to the point where they could walk on the blacktop in 90 degree weather barefoot. I could never develop calluses to do that so I’d walk on the grass beside them - they used to call me a girl on account of that.
So when I got up north, I insisted on walking barefoot as much as possible so I could show my cousins down south the next summer that I could hang with them on the blacktop.
Never quite got to that level of barefoot. You really need to be born and bred down South to do barefoot right and proper.
City Slicker?
Not the last grounding...
Grounding is a real thing. You can even buy grounding mats to put under your desk and chair at work, and grounded sheets for your bed.
“Ice is an insulator. You must stay in one spot until all the ice and snow are melted, so you can directly contact the ground. If you do that, I’m sure it will have a great effect on you. “
LOL!!!
“Going barefoot was just a normal part of being a kid in the southern latitude states; Georgia, Texas, and such.”
Not so great in the woods though. Everything down South is trying to stick you, bite you or give you a rash.
Amen To That!
“Just like many southerners get a kick out of my northern WOP stories, I get a kick out of all things southern :)”
Let me introduce you to Copperheads. You’ll just have a great old time.:}
“Watch out for.ticks”
And Chiggers, Lord I hate Chiggers. Since I moved to Colorado, no Chiggers and no fleas just these damned Hippies everywhere.
There definitely is something to it.
