He arrived at the hotel room, where our cameras were set up, in a T-shirt and jeans. "I'm nervous," he said, surveying our lights and camera equipment. "I've never done anything like this before."

I agree with the first part; Goodell will ban Vick for at least a year for lying to his face about his involvement (maybe even longer if he adds in time for the actual dog fighting). I also agree that Vick gets cut and all endorsments are off.

As far as Vick having the potential of being an all-time great, I haven't seen anything in the last six years that would make me believe that he is even a good quarterback, much less a great quarterback. He earns his popularity by playing to the bling-bling crowd.

Vick could have been another Steve Young under the right coach, in my humble opinion.

Michael Vick? The football player? I can’t remember ever hearing or reading anything good about him.

Does he use that name while torturing dogs also?

I thought he just used it because he has herpes and likes to lie to women about it prior to unprotected sex.

I'd not said anything about Vick, just about dog fighting.

A case similar to that of pit bulls could likely be made for the Utes and Commanches, who were forced into some sort of a peace treaty ending 800 years of war about thirty years ago or thereabouts. They say that fighting is so bred into those guys at this point that if a week goes by and they don't get into some sort of a fight, they get sick.

Even though you don’t have a peer reviewed cite I will run with it.

Utes and Commanches trained their young to protect their tribe.

Scum like Vick breed these dogs to fight so that they can bet on the outcome and then kill them at the end of their career.

I am part American Indian and for you to compare their actions raising children to pieces of shit like Vick is enough for me to wish doom on you.

Sorry, that likely sounded worse than was intended. I was pointing out that there actually are both people and animals who are inherently warlike.

Got three golden retrievers......once the dog owning NFL fan understands that to train a p/b to fight, they often have to offer up a defenseless mutt (often picked up at shelters) for the p/b to whett his appetite on, then Vick is going to be done for.

Nonsense.

Mutts have just as much trouble as any given purebred.

That all is a myth.

It depends on the heritage, and plenty “pure” heritage is good. Although not enough!

He could have been an ultimate wishbone quarterback if anybody in the NFL ever had the brains to try something like that.

SOME pit bulls are bred for viciousness and abused from birth to make them even more so. If they lack in viciousness, they are hung, shot, electrocuted or beaten to death. Those that survive are further abused, starved and then thrown into a deep pit with another bull dog where their only way to survive is to maim or kill their own kind. If they survive and lose, they are beaten more or killed; if they survive and win, they get to do this again and again.

“Enjoy” is not an adjective that I think applies to any aspect of these animal’s lives.

The only reasonable use I’ve ever heard of for pit bulls is hog hunting. Dog fighting is not reasonable and Michael Vick is an a**hole. At this point I’m pretty much writing the NFL off; they no longer have anything I’m interested in.
