Mornin’ Meg! And everyone else!

Beautiful Camellia! I think that one is Professor Sargent. It’s a gorgeous dark red and they can get huge.

“Great stories! When my cat had five kittens under the guest room bed, I didn’t want to disturb them for quite some time. When they started creeping out from their safe-haven, I got some elastic string (heavy duty) from the craft section at Wal-Mart. I hooked a pom-pom made of yarn from the elastic string, and tacked the string to the ceiling. Those kittens LOVED it. They would spend literally hours, batting that pom-pom, and trying to catch it. I found homes for each of them, and actually cried when they were taken off. Ahhhhhh - memories.

I missed this last night..What a great idea..Bad boy TRubble chews through any string hanging a toy right now..When he leaves the squeeky mouse goes back up..They love the ball enclosed in a donut toy, too.
Right now there are 3 balls missing that they were playing with..LOL
I managed almost 6 straight hours of sleep last night.
My daughter will cry for days when she leaves the kittens with me.

Thank you, gardengirl!
I am going to need your advice on a potted rose queen hibiscus overwintering..We have many mild winter days..I don’t know whether to let it stay out on the patio and cover it with freeze cloth when needed or place it in the garage.

You need to know whether it’s an annual or a perennial. :) If it’s annual, you can let it stay out, but it won’t tolerate a freeze. We have some perennial hibiscus here at the garden center. They got evicted from the greenhouse wehn we ran out of room this spring. Temp dropped into the mid 20’s and they were ok—lost their leaves, but bounced back.

I know this is all confusing, but I found the whole September thread and ‘brought it back’ with a post. I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing. :( Check your pings if you want to ‘go back’ to the main thread or not. I copied and reposted the first couple of posts from ‘this’ thread to the mail September thread, but not all of them.

Did a quick google—looks like it’s a tropical. Definitely no freezes.

It needs pruning right now..It has thrived since I got it for Mother’s Day..but I wonder if I should wait until early spring. My daughter has hibiscus that drop leaves in winter and return just fine..

If you put it in the garage, it will prob drop it’s leaves but be ok. As for pruning, it depends on how big your plant/garage are!
