The Musical Carp

There once was a corpulent carp
Who wanted to play on a harp,
But to his chagrin
So short was his fin
That he couldn’t reach up to C sharp.

Biscuit Day

GLUTENFREE BUTTERMILK BISQUICK MIX

2 & 1/2 c. rice flour (could be white, brown or half & half)
1 & 2/3 c. potato starch
3 tsp baking powder
2 & 1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
1/2 c. dry buttermilk powder (in supermarkets over dairy section or baking section)
3 tbs egg replacer powder
1 c. less 1 Tbs shortening.

In a large bowl, wisk together all dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening until no lumps appear. Store in the fridge or freezer because of buttermilk powder.

RESTAURANT-STYLE CHEESE BISCUITS

2 cups GF bisquick mix
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (Submitter used 1 & 1/4 cup today and loved it!, or you could use different cheeses)
1/2 cup water

Combine bisquick mix and cheese (you can do this with a fork). Add water. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

For an extra kick, brush on a butter topping. Use 1/2 cup of melted butter mixed with 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon parsley flakes, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.

Thank you for your prayers. It truly is a blessing to have him conscious and fairly alert for this time.

Popeye's Biscuits

4 Cups Bisquick
4 Ounce Sour Cream
1 Cup Club Soda (room temp)
1 Stick Margarine

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix bisquick, sour cream and club soda together. Pour onto floured surface and knead very lightly. Roll out to about 1/2” thickness and cut with cutter. Melt butter and pour half into a glass casserole dish. Place biscuits in dish and pour remaining butter over top of biscuits. If you would like to use less butter, do not put butter in bottom of the pan; just pour a little over the top. Also, make sure that the club soda has never been refrigerated and still has a lot of fizz.

Bake at 375 degrees for about 20−25 minutes or until golden brown.

GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMY’S PLACE!

The Soldier’s Code

1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.

6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

Good morning, Yorkie.
Hope you are having a very nice day.

Those biscuits sound great.

Thank you for sharing. You always contribute very interesting recipes.

If my son comes this Friday, I think I will make them for dinner.

Thank you, Amy.

I made pancakes this weekend using a take-off (made up by me) of the Popeye Biscuit recipe:

‘Popeye’ Pancakes

1 c. Biscuick
1 egg
3/4 c. club soda (room temp)
1 T. oil
1 heaping T. sour cream
2 t. sugar

Stir together, let sit for five minutes. Pour about 1/8 cup of batter on lightly oiled skillet - turn when bubbles cover pancake. Serves three
****************
This turned out to be an excellent pancake - very light and fluffy. Not dense and thick, like most pancakes. If you want them a little thicker, add less club soda. (I personally like them as directed above.)

I'm checking back to Friday's thread since I wasn't here all weekend, and see this darling little bluebird & birdhouse. (I didn't have it already - do now though!) :)

You also asked "what is PSP, please?" It's not a silly question, and I normally type the full names instead of just giving the initials. To answer your question, PSP stands for Paint Shop Pro - a graphics editing program that Amy uses. It's one of the more popular graphics editing programs (not free) and has all the features and capabilities that most people need or use.

Aw, gosh, I missed “Federal Income Tax Day” - how exciting! LOL! Honestly, some of these ‘holidays’ are on the strangest days! And then we have “Chocolate Day”, and some version of “Smile Day” about once a week - which is good! We should have those two every day. :)

I knew you were a Boop fan - couldn't resist calling your attention to that one. :)

Okay, I want to know who snuck into my courtyard and took a picture and named it Frederick Meijer Gardens. :)

Isn't that beautiful! Reminds me I need to go get some mums!

Know you are missing your daughter and son-in-law and all the little fur-babies. But hopefully they will have their house back in order before too long.
