In another major address this week, President Obama will outline further economic plans: to cut the federal deficit in half over the course of his first term, to raise taxes on "the wealthiest" Americans, winding down the war in Iraq, and it's reported, raising business taxes.

The Republicans in Congress will have their work cut out for them to oppose tax increases in a time of business downturn, but it needs to be done, and they need our help to oppose the increases.

Continue to make calls, emails, talk to everyday folks you know.

Enjoy CPAC, IG. The hotel where it's being held in fabulous! You'll really love it, and the neighborhood where it is. A few years ago my husbnad had a conference at the hotel just across from the Omni Shoreham and that was great too.

I went to CPAC in 02 and have always wanted to go back. Keep us posted on your thoughts, etc.

Sarah is speaking via video hookup, I think. And she may be the final speaker on Saturday. Alas, I will be enroute to the airportm for my return flightm when she is speaking.

I am interested in organizing a group of ‘mature’ women to work the Iowa Newspaper message boards and Iowa Blogs, so I will be focusing on presentations of that type.

That’s a good question Jem. In our little town, it’s difficult to form a nice opinion of some when then shop in our stores with their pants half way down their butts and their underwear showing. It’s a wonder their parents allow them out of the house.

The blush of victory will fade with time, 2/3s. I think by summer or fall working Americans will begin to see the person they have elected to “lead” them. He is following the same path FDR led America and it was a failure. By then, hopefully our elected Republicans will begin to think like the average conservative Republican and begin to represent us....hopefully.

Oh Jem, I don't think you remember me posting thoughts from my friend who works in security in Washington, D.C. Right before the election we were talking about the security issues of the up and coming ingnauration. She commented to me there was trouble finding enough securit guards/agents to cover all of the events O had been to in the past and it continued then. the agents were fearful of a possible attack on O; more so than they had experienced in the past.

Prairiebreeze and I discussed this recently and we agree that while neither of us welcomes harm to another human being, we wish for a way to stop him from harming us and ours.

The porkulus bill is just the happy birthday on the cake as my best friend likes to say.

Ash Wednesday is upon us. A great time for fasting and mortification.

Mozie... We are always going to have people out there that so ignorant of history, and what our role in this world is all about.

Most people don't know that we pulled out of southeast Asia in the seventies millions of Vietnamese and Cambodians were murdered and imprisoned; albeit Pol Pot, or the North Vietnamese.

I continue to remind myself that evil will truimph if good men and women do nothing. It is up to face up to evil and beat it back. This faction of Islam wants to dominate and control the world. They brutalize women and prevent children from being educated. They strap bombs to the mentally retarded and send them into market squares to be denotonated. What would these people have us do? Ignore the plight of our fellow man.

I remember talking to my father during the Vietnam war. (He flew B-29's out of Guam during World War 2.) I asked him if he wanted me to be drafted. He said, "No... I would rather have you join of your own free will so that you can do good for others. That is what God commands of us!" I have never forgotten that.

A few years later I did enlist. I have nothing but the greatest of admiration for all those who are serving our country, whether they are stateside or in harm's way overseas. They are the heroes we need so desperately today. They are willing to give the last fullmeasure of devotion and ask nothing in return.

Don't let the bastards get you down. They know very little of sarcrifice. They are only interested in their own comfort zone, otherwise they wouldn't have the attitude they do.

God bless Ev, and Jemian's son. All who serve are our heroes forever. God will bless them, and you in adundance.

Glad to hep anyone educate a lib. Its not that I don’t have patience its just that it makes me so sad to think of how many scars the patient(this country)will have if it recovers from this sickness.

My hair lady is a lib, but she despised the O. She thought he was the Anti-Christ, he scared her etc etc. This morning she is in love. I can only guess he came up with some freebie that she fell for.

Here is something that might cheer you up:

Over the past month, since the 'Recovery Plan' was announced, those voters responding to polls who used to be Dem but now claim to be Independent is 19% and rising. And the pollsters know that those identifying as Independent are largely opposed to the 'Plan'. But they are NOT subtracting these former Dems from the weighting of the poll (in other words, they think the Indy population is the same size as before because they are not accounting for switchers).

So when the MSM reports that '64% of the public support the Recovery Plan', it is wrong, according to pollsters, because of the weighting they apply to their poll results -- the Independents are being underreported, Dems overreported...;-))
