I've finally found that link to the "Virtual Forbidden City" tour that was on that History Channel Special some years ago. It's downloadable software. I can't account for how secure it really is, so you'll need to assess that on your own.
Cheers and enjoy!

Got it!
Here's the address:

for later
Have to check this out when I’ve got time....
Speaking of . . . does anyone have a link to the virtual ancient Rome?
Here's the link in case my HTML fails again: http://www.romereborn.virginia.edu/
This should be interesting! Thanks!
If you like this kind of stuff, there is an online game called Second Life and they recently opened a full size replica of the battleship Yamato that you can explore. The level of detail is fascinating! You would have to download Second Life like this program, create a free account and your avatar (very easy) and then just do a search for “Yamato.” I think its well worth the effort.
Wow, that’s pretty cool. I may have to check that out. I’ll have to wait until I get more free time though. Freeping takes up most of my PC time. : )
The great wall must have been incredible - The forbidden city is huge!
Thanks for that. I condensed the photos into the second view for easier browsing. Everyone should check this out.
Thanks again! I love history and this should provide hours of entertainment! Google Earth is populating Ancient Rome as we speak.
It won’t let me select English only Chinese.
I understand completely. LOL And Second Life can suck up a great deal of free time as well.
it actually was a huge tourist trap, and I was there on their Golden Week, a national holiday, EVERYone had it off and I never saw so many people in one city in my life
