What is the deal with Glenn Beck?

Posted on 11/17/2009 6:02:50 AM PST by 7thson

I had an interesting discussion with my wife the other night. We were both curiouis as to why radio talk show people such as Limbaugh, Levin, Hannity, do not promote or talk about Glenn Beck.

I went to their various web sites and checked out what they recommend to read. It was interesting.

Limbaugh - no Beck books.

Levin - no Beck books.

Hannity - no Beck books.

Coulter - no Beck books.

Ingraham - one Beck book.

My wife and I came to the conclusion that the reason he is being shunned by the powers that be is due to his aligning himself with O'Reilly. I also think that maybe they are cautious. Is Beck really a conservative or is he just doing what he is doing to make a buck and a name.

I know Limbaugh talked with him once on Beck's program - via phone - and Levin lambasted him for his stance on McCain. Other than that, they do not seem to want to associate with him.

I would be curious as to what other Freeper's think.

What does Levin say about Savage? These are 2 I rarely listen to. I never know what time Levin comes on and his voice is a little whiney, and Savage always seems self important and az bit narcissistic about the Muslims attacking him and how he is banned from the UK.

I am sure all of their books are on Beck’s site, including all of Levin’s?

I was just wondering why the conservatives don't stick together to form an united front.

That's what liberals do - liberals are afraid of the diversity of ideas. We don't have that fear.

Actually, the two things I listed were two things I read and "heard" on this site - Free Republic. So I am glad you set the record straight.

Ah, now my apologies to you for perhaps a strident tone ... I am about at the end of the rope with the nonsense FReepers are/have been posting about Glenn. There seems to be an agenda brewing, it has the scent of *choosing teams* that I remember back from high school P.E. class.

I like your answer but please calm down.

I tend to agree with a lot of what you said. The only reason I like BOR is his going after child molesters. I do not consider that a soft target because nobody says anything about these monsters. So good for BOR for shining a spotlight on the politicians who thwart good people wanting to protect children.

Mark Levin has been doing the Beck thing on his radio program before Beck got his show on FNC. I watched Beck a few times when he was on CNN and his 'gig' then was Islamofacism. He seems to have abandoned that. That is what gives me that nagging feeling that Beck hooks on to what is hot for the moment.

Thank you for your answer.

2 MILLION people marched on Washington as a direct result of principles laid out by Glen Beck

Please explain. Was he an organizer? While I've not seen Glen Beck yet I presume that the principles behind the tea parties (named such as a result of a segment by Rick Santelli) had already been in existence for quite a while.

Oh yes, we have noticed — multiple book deals, movie theater deals, broadway tours — nobody is as selfless in making his millions as fast as he can. He is the only believer among them, no doubt about it — idiot.

How come nobody mentions the Todd Schnitt show? He’s been around almost as long as Beck on the radio, yet I never hear anyone on FR mention him at all.

A pattern set By Limbaugh long ago has been broken, and not all are comfortable with it quite yet.

About time. I realized... not sure how long ago... that most of the talkers were out of gas. Hannity is out of gas. Levin is pretty much out of gas. Limbaugh is not quite out of gas... By out of gas I mean, Hannity can filibuster, Levin can rant, but I don't hear anything I haven't heard them say a million times, so it all sounds like Blah, blah, blah. Limbaugh is still relevant because a) the junta singled him hout, b) he still thinks outside the box, and c) he IS after all the father of right-wing political talk radio.

If you want to be taken seriously, drop the capitalized words and quotation marks and get the names of the people you are referencing correct. Otherwise, it’s just a rant.

I agree in part; while not a journalist in the strictest sense of the word, Glen is nonetheless performing the role and functions that solid, reputable “investigative journalists” used to perform before they became propaganda sock puppets for the democRATS, liberal “progressives” and their Obamessiah.

Damn, you figured it out. You see, there’s this big conspiracy between Levin and Hannity, they are really, really jealous of Beck. Even though Hannity’s radio show is twice as big as Beck’s, and Levin’s book has sold 3-times as many as Beck’s, they have teamed up against Beck. And the two of them really have nothing to do with the conservative movement, despite being involved in it and promoting it for 25 years, they have done nothing to promote conservatism — no, not until this last January, when Fox hired Beck, has the world been saved and the truth been told. You are a blithering moron.

He did not organize them he strongly advised people to get off their collective butts and stand up and fight. What Glen did was to plant the 9/12 seeds and till the ground that lead to other Americans orgainzing 9/12 and Tea parties which lead to the march on Washington and beyond.

Projecting? Limbaugh’s audience is bigger than ever. It is 5 times the size of Beck’s. Levin is the top rated talker in his time slot in cities like New York, where Beck loses to Scarborough, LA (no Beck?), Chicago (no Beck?), Detroit (no Beck?), San Fran (no Beck?), etc. Must be everyone is out to stop Beck, no? Otherwise, all these big markets would surely be carrying him. He is so damn good.
