Earth to be paralised by solar flare in 2013? (Official The Sky Is FallingĀ® Alert)
One India ^ | 9/22/2010

London, Sep 22: Power grids may crash, communication systems may collapse and Internet may shut down in 2013 as scientists warned that a huge solar flare is due to burst in 2013.

British Defence Secretary, Liam Fox informed that the giant explosion of energy from the Sun, a phenomenon which occurs only once every 100 years, may cause incalculable damages to the earth.

'The Sun' reported that the hostile power could cause a similar effect by exploding a nuclear weapon in space.

Fox claimed, "While we all benefit from scientific advances, so we also create vulnerabilities that can be exploited by our enemies."

"However advanced we become, the chain of our security is only as strong as its weakest link," added his statement.

I'm also a fan of "Idiocracy". It's a shame we are seeing it played out in the real world.

Seems that I may get a chance to employ my emergency plan, which consists of waving my arms while running around in circles screaming; "Why didn't we elect more democrats to fix this?!?"

:P

“I’m also a fan of “Idiocracy”. It’s a shame we are seeing it played out in the real world.”

They should have called the movie “Statism.”

Except that President Mountain Dew is much more pleasant than Sissy-boy Obama.

..."Idiocracy". It's a shame we are seeing it played out in the real world.

Agreed!

BTW, for those unfamiliar with the film:
The film tells the story of two ordinary people who are taken into a top-secret military hibernation experiment that goes awry, and awaken 500 years in the future. They discover that the world has degenerated into a dystopia where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly stupid human society devoid of individual responsibility or consequences.

Not to worry, we can “absorb the impact”.

No doubt about that.

The dangers from an EMP—also mentioned in the piece—are real.

If Art Bell says so it must be true.

Art Bell is a nut. What does that say for those who believe what he says?

“The dangers from an EMP—also mentioned in the piece—are real.”

Agree on that, but I still wouldn’t sell this stuff short. Something out there took out telegraph lines the last time this happened, and that system, back then, was orders of magnitude HARDER than today’s micro-electronic systems.

Just due to my fear of EMPs, I hope we do get a taste of exactly what can happen - not enough to kill 90% of Americans (as strategically placed EMPs will - mostly through starvation), but enough to disrupt us, so we take EMPs seriously.
