Japanese researchers have developed an android that mimics human expressions. Eventually, it could be used as a companion for disabled children or the elderly.

I cant wait to see what kind of virus some sick mind can dream up for these fully mobile computers. Lets hope that they burn Asimovs 3 Laws for Robots on mask ROM.
The problem is that any robot mobile enough and smart enough to serve as a companion, could also serve as infantry. Think suicide bomber that you don't even have to promise 72 virgins too. Or political enforcers who won't hesitate to mow down civilians by the clip full. And they don't even have to be very good. You can suffer 90% losses and you still don't have to write any letters home to the mainframe.

>>You would think fluid motion would be an easy thing but apparently its not. Even with very realistic video games, the odd jerky stops are a dead giveaway.<<
True, but it is much better than it used to be and, if it justified the cost of improving it, it would be much better now.
Give it a few years. The time will come, pretty quickly, I think, when it is almost (if not literally) indistinguishable from a human.

OK so if they were GOING to make a robat look human anyway, why didn’t they make it look like Angelina Jolie?

Better yet there will be therapy rooms where the walls will be 3-d screens and you could dance and sing with Hillary wearing her thong bikini.
