Most irresponsible/Dangerous Toy 2010
Self

Posted on 11/10/2010 8:43:21 PM PST by Bean Counter

Costco has had Christmas stuff out for a month now, and since Halloween is past, but Thanksgiving is still ahead, I think it is time to start thinking about the most irresponsible or dangerous toy selections of the Season for 2010.

What is your favorite submission for the one item that will make Personal Injury Attorneys slaver at the sight of it...??

What is the most outrageous item to threaten little Johnny on Christmas morning this year?

We had them. Yeah, you had to be careful. You have to be careful with guns too.

My gosh, the government should ban it now, along with anvils, Acme dynamite, and Happy Meals.

If the helmets you see are on very young children, they may be plagiocephaly helmets, a therapeutic device used to correct head flattening. Our twins had to wear them. They had plagiocephaly, or head-flattening, caused by torticollis, which is a weakness of neck muscles caused by being too crowded in the womb. We felt very lucky that the (extremely effective!) helmets were available to us, as otherwise our poor kids would have grown up “kinda funny lookin’.”

TMI? :)

Not to mention dangerous cuts, lacerations etc to fingers and wrists. Oh and those multiple plastic coated wire twist ties that hold an action figure in place. Why do they have to strap a toy in so many places???

I always liked “make your own black powder rocket otors” as it was always a gamble as to whether or not you got a rocket motor or a flying bomb.

Bill Cosby once said that he never went to playgrounds when he was a kid. He noticed grown ups didn’t use them. He saw kids getting hurt and decided they were something designed to hurt or kill children. :0)

Last I checked, they don't use bicycle safety helmets for treatment - I've seen the plagiocelpaly helmets, these were just standard ride the tricycle helmets. I honestly figured they had just ridden bikes to the market (not unheard of in my area), but the family got into the SUV parked next to my car as I was leaving.

I agree. It’s time to bring back dodge ball. Dodge ball is the ultimate metaphor for life. Makes a MAN outta ya! That or having your dad stand you up by the side of the garage while he whacks a pail of golf balls at ya!

Bike helmets? That is funny. But maybe it was just easier to let the kids wear their brand-new helmets (or whatever) than argue about it. I have done that before — let the kids wear their rain boots when it wasn’t raining, or something like that, just ‘cause I was too darned tired to argue anymore. :)
