Man, I’ll tell ya, women can be cold until the end!

The doctor, after an examination, sighed and said, ‘I’ve got some bad news. You have cancer, and you’d best put your affairs in order.’

The woman was shocked, but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting.

‘Well, daughter, we women celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things don’t go so well. In this case, things aren’t well. I have cancer. So, let’s head to the club and have a martini.’

After 3 or 4 martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more martinis.

They were eventually approached by some of the woman’s old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end, ‘I’ve been diagnosed with AIDS.’

The friends were aghast, gave the woman their condolences and beat a hasty retreat.

After the friends left, the woman’s daughter leaned over and whispered, ‘Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer, and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS! Why did you do that?’

‘Because I don’t want any of them sleeping with your father after I’m gone.’

And THAT, my friends, is what is called,
‘Putting Your Affairs In Order.’

One evening a Husband, thinking he was being funny, said to his wife, “Perhaps we should start washing your clothes in ‘Slim Fast’. Maybe it would take a few inches off your butt.”

His wife was not amused, and decided that she simply couln’t let such a comment go unrewarded. The next morning the husband took a pair of underwear out of his drawer. “What the Hell is this?” he said to himself as a little ‘dust’ cloud appeared when he shook them out.

‘April’’, he hollered into the bathroom, “Why did you put Talcum Powder in my underwear?”

She replied with a snigger, “It’s not talcum powder; it’s ‘Miracle Grow’????

The Core Of The Problem
February 28, 2011

One of my favorite television cartoons as a boy was Tom Terrific. When Tom faced a challenge, he would put on his thinking cap and work through the matter with his faithful sidekick Mighty Manfred, the Wonder Dog. Usually, those problems found their source in Tom’s arch-enemy, Crabby Appleton. To this day, I remember how this villain was described on the show. He was “Crabby Appleton—rotten to the core.”

The fact is that all of us share Crabby Appleton’s primary problem—apart from Christ, we’re all rotten to the core. The apostle Paul described us this way: “There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God” (Rom. 3:10-11). None of us are capable of living up to God’s perfect standard of holiness. Because of our condition of being separated from a holy God, He sent His Son Jesus to give Himself to die on the cross for the punishment we deserve, and then rise again. Now we can be “justified freely by His grace” through faith in Him (v.24).

Jesus Christ has come to people “rotten to the core,” and makes us “a new creation” by faith in Him (2 Cor. 5:17). In His goodness, He has fixed our problem completely—all the way down to our core.

I know I’m a sinner and Christ is my need;
His death is my ransom, no merit I plead.
His work is sufficient, on Him I believe;
I have life eternal when Him I receive. —Anon.

We need more than a new start— we need a new heart.

Read: Romans 3:10-18

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. —Romans 7:18

Have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

Barter

By Sara Teasdale

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things;
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children’s faces looking up,
Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell;
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And, for the Spirit’s still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.

Give all you have for loveliness;
Buy it, and never count the cost!
For one white, singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost;
And for a breath of ecstasy,
Give all you have been, or could be.

Very good message, Rus! Its always good to remind ourselves “who we are”. Thank you for ODB each day to give us a good start to our day! May you have a wonderful day ! Its real rainy here and was yesterday! But the weather is not too cold. I hope the bitter cold is over but here in Tennessee you can’t be sure. We have had snow in April.

Wildflowers
Kitty Chappell

Lord, help me to grow as the wildflowers grow
be it a meadow or a crack in cement.
Despite the terrain, be it good or bad,
let me know I am there by intent.

Instead of my sadly complaining within
regarding life's rough terrain,
May my face, too, look upward to you
through seasons of drought and rain.

Help me to bloom as the wildflowers bloom,
regardless of where I am placed;
wherever the spot You plant me, Lord,
let the air there be sweet with Your grace.

Someday a tired pilgrim may stop to rest
from carrying his heavy load
And thank my Creator for placing me there
to brighten that spot in life's road.

Thank you Mayor for another beautiful devotion.

Corrie toured and spoke of her amazing time in the consecration camps and the death of her sister that was with her. She told of being at a meeting and a man came to her that was one of the guards at her prison camp and that control over her. She said she was able to forgive him.

It is one thing to do so emotionally or spiritually, but when face to face with a tormentor it was indeed a gift from God for her to be able to do this.

I did not see her personally it was a film of her in an appearance in a church gathering, I was fortunate enough to see. Forgiveness is powerful, it releases the heart from bitterness, and the pain of it. A blessing, indeed.

Corrie Ten Boom was such a beautiful soul! I pray to be a forgiving person, too - but still, there are two I am not able to be so generous with.

The LORD’s Prayer says, “Forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us......”. I fear I will not be forgiven without this ability.

I have written several posters, on this situation - but no one seems to have an answer.

How DO we forgive what seems to be ‘unforgivable’?

Well lets see

I am not God. I am his child. There is satan. He has power. He does ensnare people daily, ... when someone does a aberrant or horrible behavior I separate it a bit ... hate the sin, know the person is screwed up someway. I do not like it or accept it. It is terrible. So hate the sin and know the person is lost.

Vengeance is mine, says the LORD.. Leave it to God. He will take care of it. Else we are in danger of dragging our self down because of the wrong done by another.

Does this make sense? I'm not thinking I gave a very clear answer. Now I fight daily the good fight of not hating the liberals, ... spewing socialism, and ugly, vitriolic, poison, against conservatives: there are some hoping to destroy America, as a group. I do not agree or support their agenda. I am for freedom, personal choice within the law, private property, smaller government, right to own Gun's, freedom of religion including Christians, etc. Our rights ... until they have been encroached upon severely by the courts, etc. Fight but hate not!

The best way is to give these feelings to God in prayer, asking for release from the bitterness and unforgiveness. Knowing God will answer your prayer of faith. Believe God.
