The last few scenes in Broken Trail was heartrending. Duvall on the Snake River...old, confused, seeminly reflective of a decision regretted. Duvall is a great American actor. Broken Trail equals Open Range.

I had no idea it was a book.

I’ll have to search for that.

Agreed. the letter from Nola Johns makes me cry every time...plus Duvall’s reaction.

no time to respond to every comment. I see some choices I definitely overlooked

galaxy quest
patriot
a crhistmas story
E.T.
Schindler’s list
sea biscuit
second hand lions
worlds fastest indian
master and commander:
armageddon(steve buscemi made that film great, he’s one of my favorite actors. I did see someone mention tree’s lounge)

and one that I would like to add which no one has mentioned yet: a knight’s tale. That was a fun little low budget flic with not much of a plot. But it was just so darn good! Paul Bettany was awesome in that flic as chaucer with a gambling addiction.

Also, robocop probably needs an honorable mention.

My fav line from Godfather.

“Drop the gun. Take the cannolis.”

From Midnight Cowboy: “I’m Walkin’ Here!”

And here’s a special one I often use: “”Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put in this world to rise above.”

I will add “The Wicker Man” ca.1970, after some good advice from FReepers.

Just stay the heck away from the remake. Puke.

Seconded. The origianl had Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee, conflict between Christianity and Paganism, hauntingly evotic music and lyrics, and nudity. The remake replaced all that with ... Nicholas Cage.

Also remakes to avoid Bedazzled, Casablanca, Miracle on 34th Street, To Be or Not To Be.

I've looked over the thread, and most of my favorites are already noted. I didn't see, It's a Beautiful Life or Ran (Akira Kurosawa's interpretation of King Lear).

I'm looking for a movie that I saw a trailer on a few months ago. The genre would be horror/thriller and from what I remember, there is a small group of individuals in a warehouse (I think) that discover a tunnel (?) underneath the warehouse and go down into it. From what I can remember, they encounter huminoids that were the result of scientific experiments and then they obviously have to run for their lives.

You have any idea what the name of this move was? I've been searching all the releases from 2010 thru present but I'll be darned if I can find anything on it.......If you can help, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Thanks but Mimic was a number of years ago......The movie I'm thinking about was supposed to have come out this year or maybe late last year.......

As a side note, I think there was also an underground laboratory they stumbled on......LOL!

Oh well, if you come across it drop me a note.......Thanks again
