Nisson Truck Commercial

By now I'm sure most of you have seen the Nisson truck ad where the pickup aids the Boeing 727 land with collapsed nosegear. Is this for real or an episode of clever cinematography? I figure if anyone would know, you guys would.

Haven't seen the "Nisson" truck commerical, so can't tell. But this one certainly looks real.

Google the minimum weight of something like a 737 at minimum weight....approximately 40,000 kg.......even for most of the weight on the back wheel’s I think it would have crushed the rear suspension of the truck...If that really was the Nissan doing that, it was all a kinetic time snap....I’d bet a bunch that suspension was crushed when they rolled to a stop and the weight three pointed fully....

My husband is a former American Airlines pilot and he says that this is FAKE; that if this were really tried, the truck would be crushed and the nose of the plane would grind into the truck/landing surface....

I think it’s fake, but only because it was a 727. Hardly any airline flies those anymore.

Had it been an Airbus, I would be more convinced.

The idea goes even further back than Buckaroo Banzai (80's? Early 90's?).

I remember an episode of "Thunderbirds" (that's right, the original show with the marionettes) where they tried the same trick. Wasn't just the nose wheel, though, the A/C had total landing gear failure and three trucks were needed. It didn't end well, as I recall.

Thank you for all the replies. I figured as much. First, the speed the truck needed to attain and the suspension needed to bear the weight.

I was a (very) casual acquaintance with one of the CGI artists who worked on BB and he was a little peeved when '405' came out.

Since he was a young guy, about my age, it's possible he saw the Thunderbirds episode you mention without actually remembering it.

I know that even though I watched the show regularly, I don't remember it.

There was a true story a couple of years ago about a small private plane with a wheel stuck. The pilot flew as slow as he could above the runway while someone drove a fast car under it and someone climbed through the sunroof, reached up and yanked the wheel down.
