'Well, it's just great to be here!" Mitt Romney says as he bounds on to the stage at a campaign stop in January, just one of hundreds he has made in his epic journey – he hopes – to the White House. It is the first of three rallies he will be packing into a single day, this one held in the open air at a small liberal arts college in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
"This is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous," he continues, a perma-grin glued to his face. He has a way of talking down to the crowd, pausing after every sentence to allow them to soak it up, that is disconcertingly suggestive of that old pantomime favourite, Widow Twankey. "What kind of tree is that?" he says, looking up at the branches that arch over him with an expression of mock surprise. "I don't even know. Is it a Mitt Romney tree?"
The crowd laughs heartily, which is peculiar given the quality of the "joke" and the fact that, unlike a pantomime, there are few three-year-olds in the audience. (Besides, as any motley fool could tell you, the tree under which he is speaking is a laurel oak, Quercus hemisphaerica.)
It has been a rum old fortnight for the former governor of Massachusetts. Since 2007 he has been on the campaign trail virtually without pause, laying down a nationwide network of volunteers, fundraisers and supporters that his rivals – Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul – can only dream of.

If Mitt happens, true conservatives will get frustrated.
If true conservatives get frustrated, they will speak out against Mitt.
If true conservatives speak out against Mitt, they will be placed in a FEMA detention camp.
If true conservatives are placed indefinitely in a FEMA detention camp, they won't be able to vote in future elections to throw Mitt out.
Don't end up in a FEMA detention camp and give up your right to vote to throw Mitt out.

I can’;t even write what I think of the establishment and Romney but I will say I’;ve had it with them and they will never get my support, money or vote.
They’ve spat in the eye of all conservatives, he has never bothered to meet with conservatives and when I see the likes of Coulter etc , well it makes me sick.
I went and did a few rounds sparring to get some energy out and that did not work as I;m all fired up

That's the dirty little secret about a Romney run. If he wins, the economy is poised to go in the dumpster beginning in 2013 - thanks to all the wonderful things they DemocRATs have done since 2006. A President Romney will be blamed for the economy (you KNOW they're going to do this) and in the 2016 campaign, the DemocRAT message will be "we TOLD you this would happen! Vote DemocRAT!" Hell, they could even bring Obama back since he only served one term!
