No CONGRESS, not the President, sets the Budget. And who ran the Congress in 2008 and 2009? Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosie and the Democrats

So nice try Obamabot but as usual completely divorced for any measure of intellectual honesty

Who was in charge of the veto pen/pocket and bully pulpit thus spelling out that government will be shut down until some adults can send up a responsible budget for that particular executive to sign off to?

No they haven’t. And I don’t expect Romney to do a whole lot better. But Obama’s been running up the debt at twice the clip that Bush had. So if you’re heading towards a brick wall, do you want to be in the car doing 50 miles an hour towards it or the one doing 25?

You neglect to indicate that your SEPTEMBER 30, 2009 number of 11 trillion is about 9 months AFTER Obama took office....are you some kind of troll?

With a 5-19-2012 sign up date...?

He is responsible.

While you general premise is correct, this point is not, in my opinion. The budget that was passed and signed by Obama was not what Bush requested. It pains me to defend the compassionate conservative, but Obama is mostly responsible for spending in 2009.

None of the 0bama stimulus spending (IIRC totaling ~1.5 trillion) was included in any of Bush’s budgets.

I was just thinking about what the GOP did when they had control.

Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind and more domestic programs.

It skyrocketed our national debt.

Ah I see, so as usual the Obamabot poster wants to totally ignore what the Democrat Congress did in the vain hope they can distracted and deflect attention off the complete irresponsibility of their Democrat party idols with the people’s check book

I am just pointing out that the past 3 GOP Presidents have been big spenders.

Oh, and Obama isn't, Newbie?

January 22, 2001 - 5,728,195,796,181.57
January 20, 2009 - 10,626,877,048,913.08

Check my subtraction but that sure looks like $4,898,681,252,731.51 difference to me.

I hate to quibble about a mere $1.2 Trillion or so, but...

There was a deficit but clearly 0bama didn’t do what he should have done
to fix it. HE MADE IT WORSE!

You would be better off at kos.
This is a conservative site.

Note the last two years, when it really exploded, was when the Rats had taken control of Congress.

Isn’t that also when the Recession started? We the hell don’t the Repubs talk about DAT?!!!

January 2001 to January 2009.

The GOP lost control of Congress in the 2006 elections. So if you cannot be bothered to get even the most basic facts right, we have no reason to listen to your rabidly ignorant posting.

I smell ozone in your further 0bama tool.

I voted for President Bush twice and McCain in 2008.

But I just don’t think the GOP has really been fiscally conservative at all.

That does NOT make me a fan of Obama.

There are conservatives that have signed up recently and I’d not ordinarily condemn them because of a date.

However, I see no point in this article that gives ‘facts’ that have been not been explained. I see no purpose but to foment dissatisfaction with Bush and therefore Republicans, in general, now. Yes, GOPe Republicans have been spendthrifts...are we supposed to translate this to “Romney/Ryan” will do the same now?

But Republicans had control of the House and Senate from January 2001 to January 2009.

I'm pretty sure the dems have controlled at least the Senate since 2006.

No it didn't

Last GOP and Bush Budget. Federal Deficit 2006 $160 billion

Last Democrat Congress and O budget. Federal Deficit 2010 1.6 trillion

So rather then keep mindlessly propagandizing for the Obama Democrats, take the time to learn even the most basic facts.

So President Bush is responsible for a trillion dollars of wasted stimulus spending during 2009, while he was sitting in his Texas home? Is he responsible for spending bills and GM takeovers that took place after Obama was inaugerated. Following your logic, he might as well be responsible for 2012 spending too.

I won’t argue they increased debt. I’m as much pi$$ed off at the GOPe as anybody...I’ve even dissed Bush on DHS and TSA and neglect of the economy. But I see no purpose for this at this point in time. All the circumstances surrounding events after 2007 are highly subjective and political as hell, and your numbers don’t take that into account.
