Experts find remains of England's King Richard III

LEICESTER, England (AP) - He wore the English crown, but he ended up defeated, humiliated and reviled.

Now things are looking up for King Richard III. Scientists announced Monday that they had found the monarch's 528-year-old remains under a parking lot in the city of Leicester - a discovery that will move him from a pauper's grave to a royal tomb and that fans say could potentially restore the reputation of a much-maligned king.

Just incredible. I would think that he would now have to be interred with all the rights and honor due at King of England. Long overdue.

I believe they intend to inter him in Leicester Cathedral under his memorial stone.

Richard III might have been an ass, but Henry VII, who defeated him, and Henry VIII, his evil spawn, was far, far, worse.

One of the daughters of Richard Wydeville, was his wife, and I am a direct descendent of another daughter along with tens of thousands of other Americans. Thus, many Americans are descendents by marriage of this rogue king.

Richard III was the last of the Plantagenet dynasty, a dysfunctional royal family in their own right, who fought a series of stupid wars which greatly weakened England.

One of the blessings of being out of power was that so many of the Plantagenet dynasty turned to religion and became the forebears of so many of our Puritan forebears.
