"Responsibility to Retreat" is the phrase being used in Miami media this week!
WFOR, WPLG, WSVN, WTVJ | 7/18/13

As the liberal Miami media works hand in hand with Democrats and race card players and gun grabbers, they are employing a phrase in their effort to get STAND YOUR GROUND laws repealed....

That phrase is "responsibility to retreat"... They are insisting that the law be amended to make it mandatory for victims of crime to run away.

First of all, isn't that ALREADY part of the law--to seek safety when possible? Second, if we are to believe the leftards, isn't that what Trayvon DIDN'T do?

Anyway, I think it is disgusting to hear anyone tell me I have to run away when I am attacked.

Is anyone else hearing the media spew this crap?

Maybe the idiot libs can endorse their own law??

They can call it 'Cower and Fetal'....if you are the victim of a crime, you do nothing but curl up and suck your thumb..

Since Zimmerman did not invoke SYG, it has not standing.

;)

“Just hand over your wallet or purse, your watch, jewelry, your car keys, etc. and F^%$ Off!”

Does that include your gun?

Why doesn't the attacker have a "duty to retreat?"

Saying Zimmerman is at fault for getting out of his truck is like saying a rape victim is at fault because she should have stayed in her house instead of going for a jog.

duty to retreat is an impossible standard.

you can never retreat fast enough or far enough to prevent a jackpot ambulance chaser from filing suit.

this is about undoing tort reform which ended all the home owner lawsuits seeking payment from insurance.

Martin was a young thug and a punk of the type that dominates the jails.

(ps the race baiters are astroturfing with paid protesters in talahassee DEMANDING self defense be outlawed)

FL voters better incorporate stand your ground in their constitution.

“I’m trying to find it in the constitution but so far no luck.”

It’s right after the “good and plenty” clause.

Gee, don’t you know nuffin?

Even if armed I would try everything within reason (so long as it did not put me or my family at greater risk) to avoid using deadly force. If I determine that deadly force is necessary to prevent death or harm I will use it to the best of my ability to kill the aggressor.

I also believe that George Zimmerman had no choice except to use deadly force. There is also no evidence that George Zimmerman did anything that escalated a confrontation. He did not even realize he was in a confrontation until attacked without cause.

Note: Zimmerman passed several lie detector tests at the police station. He gave statements to the police without his right to counsel. This is not the action of a guilty man.

Yes, get the stuffing beaten out of you and then retreat from a black person only if you are white.

Just two days ago there was a story that statistically, in Florida, black people use Stand Your Ground to defend themselves proportionately more than whites or Hispanics.

http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/16/blacks-benefit-from-florida-stand-your-ground-law-at-disproportionate-rate/

So when they say, “responsibility to retreat”, they should be corrected to be saying “responsibility FOR BLACK PEOPLE to retreat”.

I’m sure that would go over well.

It would also hopefully remind black people that the first major advocates of gun control (for black people) in the US was the Ku Klux Klan.

True. However, these actions are not in general a good idea. Even if you are innocent.

People on both sides of the discussion seem to be in agreement that none of this would have happened if GZ had stayed in his car.

It wouldn't happened if Martin hadn't left a child alone (yes, he was baby-sitting) and gone to the store to buy the 2 of the 3 ingredients to make "purple lean" (per his Facebook page, before it was deleted).

HA!! I don’t know.

I am sure that when Nelson addressed his men on the deck of his flagship before the battle of Trafalgar-that’s not exactly what he meant: “Be British!”

That guy is probably whirling in his grave... along with Wellington and all the rest, too. :)
