SAY WHAT?? That's as outrageous as governments providing funds and tax breaks for stadium construction. Would you believe this year Cleveland's councilors action went along with a request from the Browns for a few million dollars to help fund improvements to the stadium, including a more excellent scoreboard?
The NFL is in self destruct mode, and they don't even know it.
I think it’s the combination of the pink shoes and the freezing out of a Christian player like Tim Tebow. If he’s not welcome, neither am I.
Mediocre 8-7-1 record. Hosting a game against a team with a better record. Playing at all while a team with a better record sits home.
If people are stupid enough to pay 250 dollars to sit in a freezer to cheer mediocrity, so be it.

In recent years the NFL has become obsessed with PC oriented toward social engineering causes to the point that it now detracts from the game IMO. And, the frequency and number of advertisements during the games are simply excessive. The product has become contaminated with too many side interests. I don’t watch many games anymore.
There’s a reason you don’t see MLB players doing the moonwalk or cartwheels down to first after drawing a walk or dancing around and chest pounding after throwing someone out at second. There’s a reason you often see NFL and NBA players celebrating and chest pounding after falling on a loose ball or dunking when there isn’t a defender within 30 feet of them.

They don't care. They're insulated. Taxpayers will pick up the losses.
You can periodically watch the game in between all the commericials. I’m pretty sure the average game has more commercials than coverage.

There's nothing that says the NFL has to be popular. At one time, horse racing and boxing "owned" sports in America. Those sports now hardly get more than one or two column inches in the box score pages of the paper; heck, unless it's a Triple Crown race, horse racing isn't even mentioned.
The NFL has some things going for it that other sports don't, mainly that there aren't that many games, so each one can be billed as critically important--a must watch!--and all the games (essentially) are on Sunday, so it is easy for most people to watch.
But, the NFL has a stupid TV policy and it has been slow to embrace the Internet. The tickets are crazy expensive, the players don't make nearly as much as in basketball or baseball (despite much greater injury risk and shorter careers), there are long-term injury risks that aren't present in other sports, and the public is less interested in bloodsport than it used to be.
I'm not saying that the NFL is going to decline in popularity, but I am saying that it could be an issue if it's not careful.
In Green Bay, the fact the gametime temps will be south of 0 degrees might be a factor, even up there.
NFL attendance has been declining for years. In addition to the costs, it is far more comfortable being at home in front of a large screen TV. You can even pause the action to take a bathroom break or get some food. And the replays and commentaries keep you more informed about what is happening.
I won't go to another NFL game. I enjoy football too much.
The last Bengals game I went to was The Ice Bowl. I said never, ever again. And it’s going to be almost that cold this weekend.
How can a typical family of 4 afford that? Pro sports are pricing themselves out of the market......
As a side note, my sister and brother-in-law have season tickets to the Detroit Red Wings. When the playoffs start, they are obligated to purchase tickets for each entire series, if they don't, they lose their rights to the season tickets.
Local car dealerships will buy some up too.......
Good. Restore the game back to 1970s. The quarterback gets hit, wide receivers go over the middle at their own peril, linemen battle it out without fear of sissy flags by the officials and the fans get into the nameless park for under $20 to see a real game.
Screw the trendy pink shit. Parking is $2 and a beer is under $5 (still high for the times). If a “defenseless player” gets hit he gets penalized for not defending himself.
Question - Could somebody who has paid for ‘NFL All Access’ or whatever its called, still watch the game, even if his area is blacked out?
Also, over the last few years, the Chiefs have had some bad ticket sales...the owner bought the tickets to avoid the blackout...sort of removed the threat of not being able to see the game.
Selling out tickets to the Eagles game wasn’t a problem. Of course, we’re in a much more densely populated area than any of those other games. It seems to me that only the real die hards are actually going to the game. Most folks are like me and prefer to watch the game with their family and friends in the comfort of their own living room with their own beer and their own food. Less drunks and less idiots. We can rewind the game if we want to see something. With the invention of the big screen TV, it’s just much more pleasant to stay home than it is to go down to the Linc.
