You've heard of The Cat in the Hat but the latest fashion craze for animal owners is to turn their pets into something more predatory.

Cats and dogs are now sporting new designs in their fur to make them more king of the jungle rather than domesticated house pet.

However, one poor ginger feline looks genuinely embarrassed by her new look after its owner rouged-up its cheeks with make-up.

We've all had a haircut we didn't ask for but would you subject your pet to some of these styles?

ANY haircut you give to a cat, beyond trimming a long coat to help the cat stay cool, is going to look stupid.

This cat uses herself as ironic bait.

I wouldn’t trim any of my cats that way.

My late MIL had a long-haired cat, Casey, and she had him shaved at the beginning of Summer every year. They lived in
Culver City, CA, and they had no air conditioning. Casey was much more comfortable than he would have been otherwise.

Thank you for the post and ping.

Seconded. My long-haired cat loves lion cuts.

My pleasure. Also, lion cuts are very practical for hot weather.

Indeed. Casey looked a little funny, but he was happy.

Thor has been acting like he's king since receiving his decoration.

I've had two long haired cats and ended up shaving both of them. One would lie down in front of me and meow until I figured out that was what she wanted. It was an anti-hairball technique. I had bought that tuna flavored hairball paste by the case until a friend told me it was too high in carbohydrates and was just like candy for her. No wonder she liked it so much.

I started shaving her and did not need the paste anymore and actually got a call from the mail-order pet store asking if the cat was still living. I guess she was a major contributor to their profit margin.

I kept a lion cut on her and she lived to be 16 years, 2 months old.

I wonder if James Traficant ever did this to his cat.

We have a schnauzer / poodle + unknown others mix. His hair is a problem for him. Way too thick and prone to matting. He loves a short haircut every couple of months. His is not a good mix plus his bark sets your teeth to hurting. He was an elderly neighbor’s pet and we took him when she had to go into a nursing home.

No haircut would be the cruel thing.

How kind you are to take someone else’s critter and care for them. God Bless you.
