*Vanity* Fukushima Radiation likely to arrive on West Coast next month.
me | March 9, 2014 | Bushwon

Posted on 03/09/2014 6:32:40 PM PDT by Freedom56v2

Drudge posted an article (from a banned source) which stated that very low levels of Fukushima radiation will likely reach the West Coast next month.

Incredibly, the article states that there is no federal agency which currently samples Pacific Coast seawater for radiation.

I find it disturbing that:

1. There is money being spent for many frivolous activities, yet three is no monitoring for radiation on the West Coast?

2. The EPA is monitoring puddles on people's private property, yet there is no monitoring of radiation on the West Coast!

I think they used up the seafood testing money on that exercising shrimp study.

As though I haven’t seen that term in print a hundred million times living here.

Most of the people around me are ex-Hanford employees, older than me. Cancer is not a subject that often comes up, except by leftist factions spewing fraudulent statistics.

Seriously we are getting a small handheld one to check out produce before we buy it. It may sound a little paranoid but we are a little paranoid. :-)

I think KIDD had good intentions, though he was a bit arrogant about it.

But your vanity (a good one no matter what anyone says) is serving it’s purpose. Look at all the information you are getting (and others get to see it too). Not all Freepers are Radiation Exposure Experts and most are influenced by the same MEDIA reporting so they likely have similar concerns.

The only challenge is for you to sift the wheat from the chaff.

LOL, and you believe that?

It depends on what the meaning of “samples,” is.

If you mean by “samples” tha the government is going to dhare thir findings with the public, then no.

If you mean by “samples” the data they are keeping for themselves, then the answer is “of course we are”!

Well, thot did cross my mind: Can I even trust the government to share the truth...

At the very least, I am just frustrated because I had hoped to live a simpler more self-sufficient life taking advantage of the abundance of sea food and fish available, but now I wonder if I can do that if I cannot fish, crab, etc...

I have been a nuclear engineer for 24 years.

I urge you to learn more about radiation. I certainly wouldnt advise anyone to stick their head in the sand.

There was a good article on dilution a couple of weeks ago on FR. Anyone with a PhD in any science should be able to explain the dilution

I find it disturbing

Don't be a sissy..

Thousands gathering at Huntington Beach waiting for their chance to surf in the radiation...What took it so long?

Surfers painted murals while they waited the radiated waves..

Some are getting carried away while waiting for the glow...

Well, that is good to know about the water itself, but then I wonder about plankton, fish, kelp, etc....

Ah yes... the food chain. Of that you are correct in having some concern. I was only trying to clarify that testing the water itself would be pointless.

As I have previously said, now you can take all the info from Freepers Input on this thread, evaluate the various responses, and resolve your problem.

Don't let any negative comments distract you.

Ok genius. Which isotopes will provide the telltale sign that the west coast is getting Fukushima radiation, and not natural radiation from the Alaska coast?

And what instrumentation will be needed to make that determination?

Since you brought up biological vectors, what are the biological half lives of those isotopes in those vectors?

Thank you. Woah, you may be the expert on the thread, and I will find the article and forward it to my husband. If you say he should be able to explain the dilution, I will ask him to explain to me (a non-science major).

I hope the concern is overblown. We have property on the ocean to live off the land (or ocean), be more self-sufficient. Hearing that radiation may arrive and there is no coordinated monitoring is somewhat unsettling.

Wow, I guess I'm a Leftist faction and never even knew it. Learn something every day. And spew? Nice word. Along with the phrase "faudulent statistics." All in all that's a lot of absolutes and derision. Of course you don't include any references - but than how could you, since any data showing radiation illness or death is, by definition, fraudulent statistics. And we won't talk about the endlessly devious and hyper-extended court cases that have been appealed over abuse of the court process, or how many people died waiting for endless appeals against their medical history to be exhausted by a bottomless pocketed government and massive law firms. That probably comes under the heading of "spew," right? And all of the personal stories and testimonies? Hmmm... oh, of course, leftist factions! Got it.

It defies common sense that the Japanese have not moved to produce their electrical needs using LFTRs (Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors).

“It’s still claimed to be unlivable after 60 years, but I would take that with a grain of salt if you consider Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the caveat the both Japanese sites were actively “decontaminated” while the Bikini Atoll was not.”

That atoll blast(s) actually hit the ground, I think that those may have been hydrogen based, and blew part of the atoll itself away; the Japan blasts were in the air which is “cleaner”.

In the meantime, Potassium Iodide tablets You can search for dosimeters or radiation monitors.

Since you brought up biological vectors, what are the biological half lives of those isotopes in those vectors?

LOL.

When the big rocket makes fire out of the bottom, it pushes the spacepeople in their astronout suits far up into the sky, until they get to space.

Is that wrong? Do I need to know the exact molecular weights of the fuel combinations involved, or the thrust vectoring and rotation required for orbital insertion?

Likewise, are you arguing that concentration vectors don't exist? That there's no scientific way to determine discrimination isotopes that would indicate source? That biological half-lives are not known by those who study the relevant sciences?

Because it seems you're now admitting that such issues CAN be of value in studying this matter, and ARE important to this subject, and SHOULD be determined by competent scientists. But you're not admitting that - oh no. Instead, you're trying to baffle with bullshit, scream by the fact that you got pwned and claim a win because you can ask pseudo-scientific questions of hyper-detail and distract from the fact that you are admitting the value of the concerns that have been raised.

Yes, pseudo-science. Your questions are a grab-bag of related concepts that are answered by merely looking up technical details, without any discussion of why such details are necessary.

Because THAT would require ADMITTING they are necessary.

Genius.
