” Frank Torre, older brother of ... Joe and former Milwaukee Braves first baseman, dead at 82”
I am going to be 82 on Monday.
It’s like having The Sword of Damocles over your head.
Oh well.
:-)
.
I saw him play at Milwaukee County Stadium many times in the late 1950’s. He could really stretch it out for badly thrown balls to him at 1st Base.
I turned 70 a few months ago. You will probably outlive me. :)

I certainly hope not,you are still just a kid. :-)
.
RIP.
Sometime about 1957 or 1958 I saw the Braves play in Milwaukee County Stadium. My boyhood hero (and still is)
Warren Spahn was pitching. One of the best left handers in the game.

For some reason I thought that Frank had died years ago. I remember his 58 or 59 Topps card was one of my favorites (it was the year the cards had round/oval photos). I think Torre’s card had a blue border and I think he hit over .300 as a part-timer the previous years (stats were on the back). Shared first base with Joe Adcock.
How about Eddie Mathews at 3rd and Johnny Logan at SS.
Hank in the outfield. Warren as great.
What a team.
Hank Aaron’s younger brother played for a minor league team in the old Northern League which included The FM (Fargo-Moorhead) Twins. He may have played for the team out of Eau Claire.

Spahn and Burdette and no regret.
RIP Frank. Prayers to his family.... Heaven got another great baseball player for their team.
Yes it was. I checked Wikipedia and Sain was traded in 1951
for Lew Burdette. And so in the late 1950’s it was Spahn
and Burdette; in the late 1940s and 1950 and 1951 it was Spahn and Sain.

Is this the card you're talking about?
(I found that one through Google on this web site: http://www.bobsbaseballmuseum.com/signed_baseball_cards )
