In terms of battlefields, Little Big Horn had a much bigger emotional impact on me. Looks exactly the same as it did on that fateful day (other than the monuments), and did not have annoying fetishists running around. The Plains of Abraham in Quebec was great to see, even though it is squeezed near the provincial parliament.

Vegas has an awful sewer smell along portions of The Strip.

Where dreams of riches stink like sh#t.

Ephesus made a great impression on me at age 17 and I didn’t even know much of the history behind it. The bus along the coast (beautiful) was an exercise in how many bad accidents can you count.

For a fantastic vacation, may I recommend my adopted hometown of Toadsuck, Arkansas. Tell ‘em blueunicorn6 sent you and get 5% off at Bob’s Laundromat!

Zactleeeee.

Then there are hidden gems like the Pulgas Water Temple and its sister site in Sunol, right outside Fremont.

If someone goes to the Pulgas Temple, might as well go to Filoli Mansion for art and ither stuff,

Little known tidbit: Filoli is the mansion used as the home for that great 1980’s TV series “Dynasty”.

“As something of an Iceland lover, go, at least once, and get out of Reykjavik. Spend days around the island and the interior if you can. It is an otherworldly experience.”

I would say watch out for the Hidden People if you go, but I guess you can’t because they are hidden.

I like the way you think.

For the unfamiliar, who might be wondering, Toadsuck, AR is a real place.

It's just south of Oil Trough, AR and a bit west of Chigger Ridge.

I can't vouch for Bob's Laundromat...

Special arragements prior to arrival in Egypt only and maybe not then ... approval could take years ... tourist breathing has erroded some of the stone, plus the tendancy for them to leave all their trash behind - first place it lands when tossed.

The washing machines at Bob’s Laundromat have a gentle cycle that is so gentle you’ll think that Aunt Betty did your laundry!

So dumb and I forgot.

The Missions!

They should be on everyone’s must see list.

In fact, I was in San Juan Batista yesterday.

That mission is famous for its beauty, as they all are and also for its history in film.

Every year there is a celebration of the movie Vertigo there.

The mission in Carmel is just “Ahhhh!”. Beautiful.

The one in Santa Barbara is just gorgeous.

There’s 22 so it’s not like there’s an excuse as to why anyone shouldn’t have seen at least one.

I also love the Mission Santa Ines.

Hell, I love em all.

Daughter just got back from Istanbul. Interesting but creepy. Constantly searched. visas denied and reapplied twice. Not a good experience to get out of but she did enjoy her time there.

Well, but not me.

I love a bar there called “The Midnight Rodeo”. “One Acre of Dancing and Glancin”.

I use to drive from Tulsa just to chase girls there.
