The United Methodist church is settling a complaint against a retired bishop who performed a same-sex wedding in Alabama, and a church leader said the agreement showed the denomination doesnt have to be divided by differences over gay marriage.
Church statements issued Monday said the case against retired Bishop Melvin G. Talbert had ended with a settlement that the denomination calls a just resolution.
Official Methodist teaching doesnt allow same-sex marriages, and theres been discussion of splitting the denomination over disagreements about whether the position should be amended as society changes. Talbert is retired, but he still holds the title of bishop and could have faced sanctions including the potential loss of ministerial privileges in the denomination had the complaint gone forward.

It is not merely “Official Methodist teaching” that recoils from same-sex relationships of the kind practiced by those who would call it a “marriage.”
"The Just Resolution Agreement ... is a reminder that United Methodists don't have to be divided by their differences," Stanovsky said in a statement. "The conflicted parties came together, prayerfully listened to one another, challenged one another, and searched for God's guidance for themselves and for the church."
"Searched for God's guidance"? Um. Genesis 19, Judges 19, Isaiah 5:20, Matthew 19:4-6, Romans 1, 1 Timothy 1:9-10, Revelation 21:8....those words of God should suffice.
These people operate with a different “faith tradition” and lack of hermeneutic principles. They are tender-hearted as can be, perfectly happy to allow people to walk the plank into the abyss of physical, moral perversion as long as no one gets upset.
Doesn’t look to me like there was any punishment or even a slap on the wrist. I guess “just resolution” is just that, a resolution in name only.
In every aspect of our morals, culture, politics, economics, religion etc.,Western Man proves himself incapable of any resistance to any assault. God Help Us!
>> These people
To whom are you referring? Methodists in general?
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)
Certain Methodists, Mennonites, and the like who veer off into moral relativism; who are afraid to engage any form of church discipline.
The mentions two types of priests or clery “men” and states that one type serves God and the other Satin/Evil. It is simple as that. We know this one serves evil.
It is not possible for men of moral courage to associate with the United Methodist church.
I agree. There are increasingly less and less places a true believer can assemble with other true believers.
I read a lot and from what I have read, United Methodists are a very liberal group. Some churches do things that are not Biblical.
I was raised Methodist; that denomination has been apostate for a very long time. They ordain women, for example - that unscriptural doctrine leads to more.
I remember the Church sending me around with an orange milk carton to collect for UNICEF as a kid.
Couldn’t be more obvious that it’s just a front for new world order.

Fair enough.
But be aware that the *majority* of UM congregations in the US and abroad have not drunk the homo Kool-Aid. Therefore the last UMC General Conference upheld the tenet that homosexual behavior is not compatible with Christianity. UNLIKE, for example the PCUSA Presbyterians and ELCA Lutherans, and Episcopalians, United Methodists haven’t taken that highway to hell, at least not yet.
I would put my very scriptural and conservative UM pastor up against any fire-breathing Church of Christ, Assembly of God, or Southern Baptist minister any day of the week. He preaches from the book and does not seek to “tickle the ears” with modern humanist revisions to the Holy Scripture.
Plus he loves to shoot and has his CCW. I’m fairly certain he’s packing most of the time. ;-)

You’re full of shit like a Christmas turkey.
I don’t eat Christmas turkeys that have not been dressed.
After 35 years in the UMC I can say with absolute conviction that it is not possible to be a Christian and a member of the UMC.
And I can say with absolute conviction that I personally know Methodist men and women that have more moral character and Christ-like behavior in their pinkies than you have in your entire body and soul.
Your bombastic and idiotic statement is proof positive of where your soul and spirit reside.
You do not know whereof you speak.
