Jesse Jackson threatens lawsuit in Little League World Series scandal
Yahoo ^ | February 11, 2015 | Mike Oz

Rev. Jesse Jackson, the polarizing civil rights activist, is calling for Little League International to return the U.S. championship to the 12-year-olds from Jackie Robinson West, mere hours after Little League stripped the team of its title.

And if that doesn't happen, Jackson said Wednesday afternoon, he may take legal action.

Jackie Robinson West — consumed in a vortex of allegations involving ineligible players and illegally redrawing its league boundaries — became a feel-good story in Chicago and across the country on its run to the Little League World Series. An all-black team that was supported by MLB players, Jackie Robinson West became U.S. champions before losing to South Korea in the international title game. Afterward, the kids from Chicago were celebrated from the World Series to the White House.

Parents cheat. Kids get punished. Guess it really isn’t about the children.

You really think those kids didn't know where they lived?
They knew, and they lied about, so don't get all teary eyed about parents cheating and kids getting punished.

Years ago I traced both families to the Friends Pantation area of SC when a Freeper who grew up in Chicago said MO spent enough time in the JJ home to be called Sis by the siblings
Recently another Freeper thru obituaries made the connection.

No one will ever convince me that the kids didn’t know what was up. You mean to tell me that they played together for a whole season and no one ever mentioned where they lived?!

Exactly what is his legal standing?

Even if for sake of argument you feel this action is unfair and wrong, what legal basis is there for a lawsuit by Jesse Jackson??? How does he have legal standing to sue? What laws were broken by the Little League organization? They are a privately run organization, right? And they have every right to take actions to determine who is eligible for their tournaments and championships, right??

Jesse Jackson is a joke if he thinks there is some legal violation. You can be sad or outraged about this, but don’t see how you can say any laws were broken.

Of course, Jesse would do the same if it were an all honky team.

I won’t be surprised if he has to drop this. The powers that be in Chicago don’t really want further investigation into the years of cheating. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Considering what actually happened yes.

Sounds like these maps are drawn up and negotiated every year and it would take a fairly astute parent to keep track of it all.

The Little Champion Teams are comprised of the best kids in the league.

They would have had to drop kids from the league who made the team to make room for kids outside the league.

Of course the kids knew. What I want to know is what did they get the kids to shut up.

During the series it was rumored around town that this team was not comprised of only the best Jackie Robinson players.

This happened before with the Taiepei team but it is really hard to prove where kids are coming from in Taiwan.

Sniff sniff... No tears here. I teach my players to tell the truth, have integrity and be respectful of the game.

illegally redrawing its league boundaries

What BS, they didn't "redraw boundaries", the coach went out and recruited ringers......period!

After reading about how it happened I’m surprised it doesn’t happen by accident all the time.

Sounds like these maps are negotiated every year with teams making deals to move boundaries that serve as trades.

The team is all black ergo any tactics at all are good tactics and the team should retain the title.

So to the point. I played a whole lot of ball games before ‘Little League’ became a pastime for old ‘wanabes’. We knew who our teammates were and where they lived even as such independent teams had/came from specific areas in the city.
