Want To Consume Cow Feces? Have Some Raw Milk
Real Science ^ | February 19, 2015 | Hank Campbell

Posted on 02/20/2015 6:35:30 AM PST by C19fan

Would you like some Campylobacter or E. Coli today? Raw milk in 26 U.S. states is now the best place to get it, since most readers of Science 2.0 are not going to have the opportunity to buy chicken from a street vendor in China.

That raw milk is risky and has no benefit is not news. In 2012 the CDC showed it again but clamoring for raw milk got even louder. It is in the news again, as part of the naturalistic fallacy that infects mostly the anti-science hippie left and a minority of people on the libertarian 'government can't regulate what diseases I should give my children' right. Like with vaccines and polio, or riding a bicycle on the freeway, just because you might have the right to do something stupid does not mean you should, and raw milk isn't better for you, it is worse. It is that simple. But it is getting more popular.

I find it amazing people want to turn back the clock on scientific and medical progress. Before pasteurization milk was a nice vector for disease including TB. Without pasteurization one would need dairy farms right near major urban centers. For example, in Thomas Hardy's "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" the book talks about how the milk produced by a dairy will in consumed in London the next day as it is transported by train.

Are they claiming that the milk that comes out of the cow actually has fecal matter in it? How is that possible? Wouldn’t the cow’s system process it out?

The reason milk was diseased was not because it was raw but because of how it was processed. For most of human history, people consumed raw milk with no trouble. It wasn’t until they started putting dairies in the middle of cities (next to distilleries, for example) that the problems arose.

Unpasteurized milk will not make you sick and it does not contain cow feces unless it is externally contaminated. My family has consumed it for 5 years without incident. I would agree that it is important to understand your source.

I am amazed people will drink pasteurized milk. Because farmers know it will pasteurized, it includes all sorts of crap.

The article you reference is propaganda.

Like it or not we all eat some fecal matter every day. Its one of the reasons I don’t keep my toothbrush in the bathroom.

I agree. This does not seem reasonable. Seems like someone just had too much government study money on their hands.

No, it's not news. It's just false.

Drinking raw milk as a kid is why I cannot drink the white water they call milk that is sold in stores today. It’s just nasty compared to the real stuff.

There is another option that works better than pasteurization. Irradiation.

400 Rads of gamma rays and that milk will taste like it came straight from the cow to your table and be completely free of bacteria or virus.

But this is opposed even more vehemently by the wacky left.

When I was growing up, my sister had dairy cows on their farm. We drank raw milk all the time. Never got e coli or anything else.

I guess if you don’t take the time to wash the tits and make sure your milking equipment is clean, maybe.

I wouldn’t want to buy raw milk in store though, that’s for sure. I would want to make sure I knew where it came from and how much handling it had and how it was stored and etc etc etc.

But raw milk is not unsafe by any means.

11 Revolting Things Government Lets in Your Food CBS News

What could taste better than rat hair, maggots and cigarette butts? Insect feces of course. But not to worry, says the FDA. Food manufacturers are kept to strict limits of all kinds of weird things that can wind up in food. The agency says just a little bit really won't hurt you.

New age hippies want everyone to be mire “natural” and eat caveman style and “organic”. Let me point out something to you nitwits. Men didn’t live nearly as long and died of horrible diseases from infected meats and poor nutrition. If you “really” want to be all “natural” hand over all your electronic gadgets or STFU...: )

Despite the health ramifications, people still:

- inject ink into their skin
- sleep with multiple sex partners
- do drugs
- drink and drive
- smoke
- do other stupid stuff

The question is, does the state have the responsibility to protect people from themselves, or does the state have the responsibility to allow people the freedom to choose (even if it is a stupid choice).

Let's make sure we understand the current debate. The probelm is not that those who consume raw milk are trying to get rid of pasteurization. The problem is the government trying to forbid people from consuming raw milk.

Pasteurize all you want. Just leave me alone.

I agree, Pete. I also think that many people, millions, probably, are so skeptical of anything tainted by “government” that they are going in the extreme opposite direction.

Look at Food Babe. She has a HUGE following and has been able to pressure corporations like Subway to bow to her will over her pseudo-science. And yet millions believe her over anything scientific. “Scientists work for Monsanto,” is what a friend of mine told me when I mentioned that Food Babe was a fraud.

After lie upon lie upon lie by the government and endless tyranny against citizens by the various alphabet government agencies, I don’t blame people who aren’t vaccinating their kids, or drinking raw milk, or protesting against GMOs. That’s how far our government has fallen in its trustworthiness. People are more willing to trust in shysters and their anti-government rhetoric.

Since Obama took office I’m used to it so my toothbrush stays in the bathroom but put up in a drawer until I need it...: )
